當然，這並不表示上帝的話落了空，因為從以色列生的，不一定都是以色列人，

但這並不是說、上帝的話似乎廢墮了。原來從以色列而出的、並不都是「以色列人」。

但這並不是說神的話語落了空，因為由以色列所生的，並不都是以色列人；

非謂上帝之言廢也、蓋出於以色列者、非盡以色列人、

夫上帝之言不廢、由以色列生者、不得盡為以色列人、

然此非謂天主之言廢也、蓋由以色列生者、非皆為以色列人、

然則天主果食其言矣乎？無是理也！蓋出自義塞者、非必盡為義塞人；

It is not as though God’s word had failed. For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel.

I do not mean that God’s word has failed. Not everyone in the family line of Israel really belongs to Israel.

But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For not all who are descended from Israel belong to Israel,

Well then, has God failed to fulfill his promise to Israel? No, for not all who are born into the nation of Israel are truly members of God’s people!

Now it is not as though the word of God has failed, because not all who are descended from Israel are Israel.

But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For they are not all Israel who are descended from Israel;

But it is not that the word of God has taken no effect. For they are not all Israel who are of Israel,

But it is not as though the word of God hath come to nought. For they are not all Israel, that are of Israel:

But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel.

Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they[ are] not all Israel, which are of Israel:

It is not as though the word of God had failed. For not all those who are descended from Israel are truly Israel,

But it is not as though the word of God has come to nothing. For they are not all Israel that are of Israel.

凡照这准则行的人，愿平安怜悯加给他们，和上帝的以色列民。

因为外表是犹太人的不是真犹太人；外表肉身的割礼也不是真割礼。惟有内心作犹太人的才是真犹太人，真割礼也是心里的，在乎圣灵，不在乎仪文。这样的人所受的称赞不是从人来的，而是从上帝来的。

即使有不信的，这又何妨呢？难道他们的不信就废掉上帝的信实吗？

耶稣看见拿但业向他走来，就论到他说：“看哪，这真是个以色列人！他心里是没有诡诈的。”

上帝非人，必不致说谎，也非人子，必不致后悔。他说了岂不照着做呢？他发了言岂不实现呢？

也使他作受割礼之人的父，就是那些不但受割礼，而且跟随我们的祖宗亚伯拉罕未受割礼而信的足迹的人。因为上帝给亚伯拉罕和他后裔承受世界的应许不是藉着律法，而是藉着信而得的义。若是属于律法的人才是后嗣，信就落空了，应许也就失效了。因为律法是惹动愤怒的，哪里没有律法，哪里就没有过犯。所以，人作后嗣是出于信，因此就属乎恩，以致应许保证归给所有的后裔，不但归给那属于律法的，也归给那效法亚伯拉罕之信的人。亚伯拉罕所信的是那叫死人复活、使无变为有的上帝，在这位上帝面前亚伯拉罕成为我们众人的父，如经上所记：“我已经立你作多国之父。”

那么，我要问，上帝弃绝了他的百姓吗？绝对没有！因为我也是以色列人，亚伯拉罕的后裔，属便雅悯支派的。上帝并没有弃绝他预先所知道的百姓。你们岂不知道经上论到以利亚是怎么说的呢？他在上帝面前怎样控告以色列人说：

经上的话是不能废的；如果那些领受上帝的道的人，上帝尚且称他们为诸神，

我口所出的话也必如此，绝不徒然返回，却要成就我的旨意，达成我差它的目的。

我们纵然失信，他仍是可信的，因为他不能否认自己。

天地要废去，我的话却绝不废去。”

照样，上帝愿意为那承受应许的人更有力地显明他的旨意不可更改，他以起誓作保证。藉这两件不可更改的事—在这些事上，上帝绝不会说谎—我们这些逃往避难所的人能得到强有力的鼓励，去抓住那摆在我们前头的指望。
