然則天主果食其言矣乎？無是理也！蓋出自義塞者、非必盡為義塞人；

It is not as though God’s word had failed. For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel.

I do not mean that God’s word has failed. Not everyone in the family line of Israel really belongs to Israel.

Well then, has God failed to fulfill his promise to Israel? No, for not all who are born into the nation of Israel are truly members of God’s people!

Now it is not as though the word of God has failed, because not all who are descended from Israel are Israel.

But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For they are not all Israel who are descended from Israel;

But it is not that the word of God has taken no effect. For they are not all Israel who are of Israel,

But it is not as though the word of God hath come to nought. For they are not all Israel, that are of Israel:

But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel.

Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they[ are] not all Israel, which are of Israel:

It is not as though the word of God had failed. For not all those who are descended from Israel are truly Israel,

But it is not as though the word of God has come to nothing. For they are not all Israel that are of Israel.

And as for all who walk by this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God.

For no one is a Jew who is merely one outwardly, nor is circumcision outward and physical.But a Jew is one inwardly, and circumcision is a matter of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter. His praise is not from man but from God.

What if some were unfaithful? Does their faithlessness nullify the faithfulness of God?

Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him,“ Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit!”

God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?

and to make him the father of the circumcised who are not merely circumcised but who also walk in the footsteps of the faith that our father Abraham had before he was circumcised.For the promise to Abraham and his offspring that he would be heir of the world did not come through the law but through the righteousness of faith.For if it is the adherents of the law who are to be the heirs, faith is null and the promise is void.For the law brings wrath, but where there is no law there is no transgression.That is why it depends on faith, in order that the promise may rest on grace and be guaranteed to all his offspring— not only to the adherent of the law but also to the one who shares the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all,

I ask, then, has God rejected his people? By no means! For I myself am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, a member of the tribe of Benjamin.God has not rejected his people whom he foreknew. Do you not know what the Scripture says of Elijah, how he appeals to God against Israel?

If he called them gods to whom the word of God came— and Scripture cannot be broken—

so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.

if we are faithless, he remains faithful— for he cannot deny himself.

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.

So when God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of his purpose, he guaranteed it with an oath,so that by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us.
