But it is not as though the word of God hath come to nought. For they are not all Israel, that are of Israel:

夫上帝之言不廢、由以色列生者、不得盡為以色列人、

然此非謂天主之言廢也、蓋由以色列生者、非皆為以色列人、

然則天主果食其言矣乎？無是理也！蓋出自義塞者、非必盡為義塞人；

It is not as though God’s word had failed. For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel.

I do not mean that God’s word has failed. Not everyone in the family line of Israel really belongs to Israel.

But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For not all who are descended from Israel belong to Israel,

Well then, has God failed to fulfill his promise to Israel? No, for not all who are born into the nation of Israel are truly members of God’s people!

Now it is not as though the word of God has failed, because not all who are descended from Israel are Israel.

But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For they are not all Israel who are descended from Israel;

But it is not that the word of God has taken no effect. For they are not all Israel who are of Israel,

But it is not as though the word of God has failed. For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel.

Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they[ are] not all Israel, which are of Israel:

It is not as though the word of God had failed. For not all those who are descended from Israel are truly Israel,

But it is not as though the word of God has come to nothing. For they are not all Israel that are of Israel.

And as many as shall walk by this rule, peace be upon them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.

For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision which is outward in the flesh:but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

For what if some were without faith? shall their want of faith make of none effect the faithfulness of God?

Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!

and the father of circumcision to them who not only are of the circumcision, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham which he had in uncircumcision.For not through the law was the promise to Abraham or to his seed that he should be heir of the world, but through the righteousness of faith.For if they that are of the law are heirs, faith is made void, and the promise is made of none effect:for the law worketh wrath; but where there is no law, neither is there transgression.For this cause it is of faith, that it may be according to grace; to the end that the promise may be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all

I say then, Did God cast off his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.God did not cast off his people which he foreknew. Or know ye not what the scripture saith of Elijah? how he pleadeth with God against Israel:

If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came( and the scripture cannot be broken),

so shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

if we are faithless, he abideth faithful; for he cannot deny himself.

Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

Wherein God, being minded to show more abundantly unto the heirs of the promise the immutability of his counsel, interposed with an oath;that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we may have a strong encouragement, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us:
