意灑雅亦曾大聲疾呼、而告國人曰：『即使義塞子孫多於海沙、蒙救者亦不過餘數而已。

到那日，以色列所剩下的和雅各家所逃脫的，必不再倚靠那擊打他們的，卻要誠心仰賴耶和華－以色列的聖者。所剩下的，就是雅各家的餘民，必歸回全能的上帝。以色列啊，你的百姓雖多如海沙，惟有剩下的歸回。滅絕之事已成定局，公義必如水漲溢。因為萬軍之主耶和華在全地必成就所定的滅絕之事。

但上帝的指示是怎麼對他說的呢？他說：「我為自己留下七千人，是未曾向巴力屈膝的。」現在這時刻也是這樣，照着出於恩典的揀選，還有所留的餘數。既是靠恩典，就不憑行為，不然，恩典就不再是恩典了。

然而，以色列的人數必多如海沙，不可量，不可數。從前在甚麼地方對他們說「你們不是我的子民」，將來就在那裏稱他們為「永生上帝的兒子」。

你們要上去毀壞它的葡萄園，但不可毀壞淨盡，只可除掉其枝子，因為不屬耶和華。

我必多多賜福給你，我必使你的後裔大大增多，如同天上的星、海邊的沙。你的後裔必得仇敵的城門，

若不是萬軍之耶和華為我們留下一些倖存者，我們早已變成所多瑪，像蛾摩拉一樣了。

「我必留下一些人，你們中有人得以在列國中脫離刀劍，分散在列邦。

當那日，主必再度伸手救回自己百姓中所剩餘的，就是在亞述、埃及、巴特羅、古實、以攔、示拿、哈馬，並眾海島所剩下的。

當烏西雅、約坦、亞哈斯、希西家作猶大王的時候，亞摩斯的兒子以賽亞見異象，論到猶大和耶路撒冷。

地上的萬民正像打過的橄欖樹，又如葡萄釀酒以後再去摘取，所剩無幾。

我們豈可再違背你的誡命，與行這些可憎之事的民族結親呢？若我們這樣行，你豈不向我們發怒，將我們滅絕，以致沒有一個餘民或殘存之民嗎？

現在耶和華－我們的上帝暫且向我們施恩，為我們留下一些殘存之民，使我們如釘子釘在他的聖所，讓我們的上帝光照我們的眼目，使我們在受轄制之中稍微復興。

因此，耶和華要將以色列人交給敵人，直到臨產的婦人生下孩子；那時，他其餘的弟兄必回到以色列人那裏。他必倚靠耶和華的大能，倚靠耶和華－他上帝之名的威嚴，站立並牧養，使他們安然居住；因為現在他必尊大，直到地極。這位就是和平。當亞述侵入我們領土，踐踏我們宮殿時，我們就立七個牧者，八個領袖攻擊它。他們要用刀劍毀壞亞述地和寧錄地的關口。當亞述侵入我們領土，踐踏我們邊境時，他必拯救我們。雅各的餘民必在許多民族中，如從耶和華降下的露水，又如甘霖降在草上；他們不倚靠人，也不仰賴世人。雅各的餘民必在列國中，在許多民族中，如林間百獸中的獅子，又如少壯獅子在羊羣中；他若經過就必踐踏撕裂，無人搭救。
