意灑雅亦曾大聲疾呼、而告國人曰：『即使義塞子孫多於海沙、蒙救者亦不過餘數而已。

到那日，以色列的余民，就是雅各家的幸存者，将不再倚靠欺压他们的亚述，他们将真心倚靠耶和华——以色列的圣者，重新归向全能的上帝。以色列啊，你的人民虽多如海沙，将只有剩余的人归回。充满公义的毁灭之事已定。因为主——万军之耶和华必按所定的在整个大地上施行毁灭。

上帝怎样回答呢？祂说：“我为自己留下七千人，他们未曾跪拜巴力。”现在的情况也是一样，上帝按照拣选的恩典留下了少数人。既然说是出于恩典，就不再基于行为，不然恩典就不再是恩典了。

“然而，以色列的人数必像海沙一样量不尽、数不完。从前我在什么地方对他们说‘你们不是我的子民’，将来也要在那里对他们说‘你们是永活上帝的儿女’。

你们要去毁坏她的葡萄园，但不可彻底毁坏。要砍掉枝子，因为那些枝子不属于耶和华。

我必赐福给你，使你的后裔多如天上的星和海边的沙。你的后裔必占领仇敌的城池，

若不是万军之耶和华让我们一些人存活，我们早就像所多玛和蛾摩拉一样灭亡了。

“‘不过，我必为你们留下一些人，使他们脱离刀剑之灾，四散到各国。

到那日，主必再次伸手从亚述、埃及、巴特罗、古实、以拦、示拿、哈马和众海岛救回祂剩余的子民。

犹大王乌西雅、约坦、亚哈斯和希西迦执政期间，亚摩斯的儿子以赛亚看到了以下有关犹大和耶路撒冷的异象。

世上万民所剩无几，像打过的橄榄树，又如摘过的葡萄树。

我们岂能再违背你的诫命，与这些行为可憎的人通婚？若我们这样行，你岂不发怒毁灭我们，使我们无一幸免吗？

但如今我们的上帝耶和华暂且施恩于我们，为我们存留一些余民，使我们安然住在这圣洁之地。你使我们眼睛明亮，在我们受奴役时赐给我们一点生机。

耶和华要将以色列人交给他们的敌人，直到那临盆的妇人生下儿子。那时，祂流亡的弟兄将重返他们的以色列同胞那里。祂要挺身而起，倚靠耶和华的能力，奉祂上帝耶和华的威名牧养祂的群羊。他们将安然居住，因为那时祂必受尊崇，直达地极。祂必给他们带来平安！亚述人侵略我们的国土、践踏我们的宫殿时，我们将选立七位牧者和八位首领抗击他们。他们要用刀剑统治亚述，统治宁录地区。亚述人侵入我们国境、践踏我们疆土时，祂必拯救我们。雅各余剩的子孙将在万民中像从耶和华那里降下的雨露，又像洒在草上的甘霖。他们不依靠人，不冀望于世人。在各国各民中，雅各余剩的子孙犹如林间百兽中的狮子，又像闯入羊群的猛狮，将猎物扑倒撕碎，无人能搭救。
