而對於吾人預定為榮貴之器、沛加恩澤、以揚其無窮之榮、

What if he did this to make the riches of his glory known to the objects of his mercy, whom he prepared in advance for glory—

What if he put up with them to show the riches of his glory to other people? Those other people are the ones he shows his mercy to. He made them to receive his glory.

抑輕褻其宏大之慈惠寬容恆忍、不知上帝之慈惠導爾改悔乎、

依父上帝預知而蒙選、由聖神而成聖、以致順服、灑以耶穌基督之血者、願恩惠平康、益增於爾、○祝頌我主耶穌基督之父上帝、依其鴻慈、由耶穌基督自死復起、重生我儕、致獲維生之望、而得不壞不玷不衰之業、為爾存之於天、由上帝之能、以信而得守護、致蒙拯救、將顯於季世者、

上帝預定我儕、非致於怒、乃由我主耶穌基督而得救、

主所愛之兄弟、我當為爾恆謝上帝、以其自始選爾得救、聖之以神、真理是信也、緣此、上帝曾以我儕之福音召爾、俾得我主耶穌基督之榮、

蓋我儕素亦無知、悖逆、迷惑、役於情慾佚樂、以狠毒媢嫉度生、見惡於人、亦彼此相惡、然我救者上帝慈惠仁愛顯著時、則救我儕、非因我行義之功、乃依其矜恤、以重生之盥濯、與聖神之復新、即上帝由我救者耶穌基督厚注我儕者、俾得以其恩而見義、且依永生之望、成為嗣子、

在主降臨時、於諸聖者而得榮、於諸信者而見異、蓋我所證於爾者、爾已信之、故我恆為爾祈禱、俾我上帝鑒爾、克稱其召、以能而成爾由善諸願、由信諸工、致我主耶穌之名、於爾得榮、而爾於彼亦然、依我上帝及主耶穌基督之恩也、

上帝所預知者、又預定效其子之狀、使為眾兄弟中之冢子、

彼將以以利亞之性與能、行於主前、使為父者之心、轉向其子、逆者從義者之智、為主備適宜之民、

心目克明、俾知爾蒙其召所望何如、彼於諸聖徒之業、其榮之豐富何如、

蓋我儕乃上帝之工、受造於基督耶穌中、致行善行、乃上帝所預定、使我儕行之者也、○

我儕亦嘗出入其中、徇形軀之情、行身心之欲、本為服怒之輩、如他人然、但上帝富有矜恤、以浩大之愛愛我、於我儕因過愆而死時、偕基督而甦我、爾之得救乃由恩耳、

我在聖徒中、乃微之又微者、尚蒙此恩、俾以基督莫測之富有宣諸異邦、

致讚其恩之榮、即於其愛子中樂賜我儕者、我儕於彼因其血而得贖、即罪之赦、依上帝洪恩也、此恩乃上帝以諸智諸識溢於我者、

人若棄此而潔己、則為貴用之器、清潔而適主用、備諸善工、

且謝天父、使我儕堪與諸聖徒同得光明之業、

且律既至、俾愆益增、罪既增、而恩愈洪矣、致如罪於死中乘權、恩亦若是由義而乘權至於永生、惟因我主耶穌基督焉、

致緣彼所施我儕之慈惠、彰其厚恩於後世焉、
