So God does what he wants to do. He shows mercy to one person and makes another stubborn.

如此看来，神要怜悯谁就怜悯谁，要叫谁刚硬就叫谁刚硬。

由此看来，上帝要怜悯谁就怜悯谁，要使谁刚硬就使谁刚硬。

由此看来，神要怜悯谁就怜悯谁，要使谁刚硬就使谁刚硬。

总之，上帝要怜悯谁，就怜悯谁；要叫谁顽固，就叫谁顽固。

这样看来，他愿意怜悯谁就怜悯谁，愿意谁刚硬就使谁刚硬。

这样看来，神要怜悯谁，就怜悯谁；要使谁顽固，就使谁顽固。

如此看來，神要憐憫誰就憐憫誰，要叫誰剛硬就叫誰剛硬。

由此看來，上帝要憐憫誰就憐憫誰，要使誰剛硬就使誰剛硬。

由此看來，神要憐憫誰就憐憫誰，要使誰剛硬就使誰剛硬。

總之，上帝要憐憫誰，就憐憫誰；要叫誰頑固，就叫誰頑固。

這樣看來，他願意憐憫誰就憐憫誰，願意誰剛硬就使誰剛硬。

這便是他不但願意憐恤誰，就憐恤誰、而且願意叫誰剛愎、就叫誰剛愎了。

這樣看來，神要憐憫誰，就憐憫誰；要使誰頑固，就使誰頑固。

是上帝隨所欲矜恤之、亦隨所欲剛愎之、○

蓋矜恤人者惟上帝、聽人剛愎者、亦惟上帝、

如是、天主所欲矜恤者、則矜恤之、所欲使剛愎者、則使之剛愎、

蓋矜恤人者惟天主、使人冥頑、亦惟天主而已。

Therefore God has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy, and he hardens whom he wants to harden.

So then he has mercy on whomever he wills, and he hardens whomever he wills.

So you see, God chooses to show mercy to some, and he chooses to harden the hearts of others so they refuse to listen.

So then, he has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy and he hardens whom he wants to harden.

So then He has mercy on whom He desires, and He hardens whom He desires.

Therefore He has mercy on whom He wills, and whom He wills He hardens.

So then he hath mercy on whom he will, and whom he will he hardeneth.

So then, He shows mercy to those He wants to, and He hardens those He wants to harden.

Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will[ have mercy], and whom he will he hardeneth.

So then, God has mercy on whom he chooses to have mercy, and he hardens whom he chooses to harden.

So then, he has mercy on whom he desires, and he hardens whom he desires.

He said to Moses,“ I will have mercy on whom I have mercy. I will show love to those I love.”( Exodus 33:19)So it doesn’t depend on what people want or what they do. It depends on God’s mercy.

The Lord himself made their people stubborn. He made them go to war against Israel so he could totally destroy them. He wanted to wipe them out. He didn’t show them any mercy. The Lord had commanded Moses to destroy the Canaanites.

The Lord spoke to Moses. He said,“ When you return to Egypt, do all the amazing things I have given you the power to do. Do them in the sight of Pharaoh. But I will make him stubborn. He will not let the people go.

So people who are dying will be fooled by this evil. These people are dying because they refuse to love the truth. The truth would save them.So God will fool them completely. Then they will believe the lie.Many will not believe the truth. They will take pleasure in evil. They will be judged.

What should we say then? The people of Israel did not receive what they wanted so badly. Those Israelites who were chosen did receive it. But the rest of the people were made stubborn.It is written,“ God made it hard for them to understand. He gave them eyes that could not see. He gave them ears that could not hear. And they are still like that today.”( Deuteronomy 29:4; Isaiah 29:10)

But Sihon, the king of Heshbon, refused to let us walk through. The Lord your God had made him stubborn in his heart and spirit. The Lord wanted to hand him over to you. And that’s exactly what he has done.

The law was given so that sin would increase. But where sin increased, God’s grace increased even more.Sin ruled and brought death. But grace rules in the lives of those who are right with God. The grace of God brings eternal life. That’s because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done.

In spite of that, Pharaoh became stubborn. He wouldn’t listen to them, just as the Lord had said.

So God let them go. He allowed them to do what their sinful hearts wanted to. He let them commit sexual sins. They made one another’s bodies impure by what they did.They chose a lie instead of the truth about God. They worshiped and served created things. They didn’t worship the Creator. But he is praised forever. Amen.So God let them continue to have their shameful desires. Their women committed sexual acts that were not natural.In the same way, the men turned away from their natural love for women. They burned with sexual desire for each other. Men did shameful things with other men. They suffered in their bodies for all the wrong things they did.They didn’t think it was important to know God. So God let them continue to have evil thoughts. They did things they shouldn’t do.

“‘ Go to your people. Say to them,“ You will hear but never understand. You will see but never know what you are seeing.”These people’s hearts have become stubborn. They can barely hear with their ears. They have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes. They might hear with their ears. They might understand with their hearts. They might turn, and then I would heal them.’( Isaiah 6:9, 10)“ Here is what I want you to know. God has sent his salvation to the Gentiles. And they will listen!”

Lord, why do you let us wander away from you? Why do you let us become so stubborn that we don’t respect you? Come back and help us. We are the tribes that belong to you.

In them the words of the prophet Isaiah come true. He said,“‘ You will hear but never understand. You will see but never know what you are seeing.The hearts of these people have become stubborn. They can barely hear with their ears. They have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes. They might hear with their ears. They might understand with their hearts. They might turn to the Lord, and then he would heal them.’( Isaiah 6:9, 10)

All those things bring praise to his glorious grace. God freely gave us his grace because of the One he loves.
