For Scripture says to Pharaoh:“ I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.”

In Scripture, God says to Pharaoh,“ I had a special reason for making you king. I decided to use you to show my power. I wanted my name to become known everywhere on earth.”( Exodus 9:16)

耶和華諭摩西曰、入覲法老、我既使彼與其羣臣剛愎厥心、以顯我異蹟於其間、俾爾以我於埃及所為之事、暨行於其中之異蹟、告爾子若孫、使爾知我為耶和華、

禍哉我也、孰克拯我、脫斯大能之神之手、昔在曠野、以諸災擊埃及人者、即斯神也、

我之上帝耶和華歟、拯我脫於其手、俾天下萬國、咸知惟爾為耶和華、○

曰、當頌美耶和華、彼拯爾曹、脫於埃及人與法老之手、援斯民於埃及人、今知耶和華較諸神為大、即於埃及人狂傲之事顯之也、

曰、僕緣爾上帝耶和華之名、來自極遠之地、蓋我聞其聲譽、及其所行於埃及、

我必使埃及人剛愎厥心、追入於海、我將因法老、及其軍旅車騎而獲榮焉、我既獲榮於法老、及其車騎、則埃及人始知我為耶和華、

耶和華膏古列、執其右手、服列國於其前、去諸王之腰束、啟其邑門、俾不復閉、謂之曰、我將為爾先導、平治崎嶇、碎銅門、折鐵楗、錫爾貯於暗中之寶、藏於隱處之財、俾知以名呼爾者、乃我耶和華以色列之上帝也、

今爾得居后位、焉知非為此會、如爾斯時緘默無言、則猶大人必從他方、得解脫、蒙拯救、惟爾與父家、將見剿滅耳、

且經預知上帝將由信而義異邦、遂預宣福音於亞伯拉罕云、諸邦將由爾受福、

然經云何、曰、逐婢及其子、蓋婢之子、不得與自由者之子共嗣業也、

上帝何以應之、曰、我為己遺七千人、未嘗屈膝巴力者、
