體肉體、乃與天主為仇、因不服天主之法、且不能服也、

The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so.

The mind ruled by the power of sin is at war with God. It does not obey God’s law. It can’t.

For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God’s law; indeed, it cannot.

若夫氣質未化之人、則不能領悟聖神之眾妙、且以為愚妄焉。是無他、聖神之妙理、必須具有超性之靈光、始能發其底蘊、固非氣質未化之人所得而領悟也

嗚呼、爾亦不淑也已！豈不知與世為友、即與天主為仇乎？閹然媚世者、不能取悅於天主矣。

若依吾內心、吾固以天主之法為樂也。

意志虛妄、理智昏昧、冥頑不靈、而自絕於天主之生命。蓋若輩良心既泯、宜其縱情恣慾、甘處下流、

主曰：「時既至、當與義塞約如次欲將吾誡命、置彼腔子裏；真諦與妙道、深深銘腑肺；我為彼主宰、彼為我子民

爾等前因惡業向與天主睽隔；

叛逆無信、剛愎自用、桀傲成性、不愛天主、惟愛荒逸、

於此吾人更有何說？將謂法即罪乎？無是理也！法非罪、乃所以燭吾之罪耳。法若不曰「毋淫、」則吾將不知淫之為淫矣。雖然、罪乃乘虛而入、即因其誡命而攪亂吾心、於以引起諸般淫慾。故無法則罪亦不至如此活躍耳。我生之初尚無法、誡命一至、罪於是乎生、而我於是乎死矣。夫誡命所以躋我於生也、結果反以致我於死者、何也？蓋罪乘隙而入、利用誡命、以陷我於惑、而成我之戮。是故法非不美、誡非不聖也；固善且美矣。豈善且美者、適足以促予之死耶？無是理也！致死之因、惟罪而已。正惟其能使善且美者、轉成致死之具、此罪之所以為罪也。在誡命之明鑒中、罪之醜態畢露矣。吾人固知法乃屬靈之器、然我乃血氣之倫、自鬻於罪、而作其奴。

當時吾人尚為天主之悖逆、且得緣其聖子之死、而與天主重相契合、今既重相契合、不更能緣其永生、而承無疆之休乎？

然則吾人以信德而廢律法乎？是又不然！此正吾人所以成全律法耳。

心懷叵測、為玷為辱；眸子不正、惟見邪淫；意志薄弱者、受其誘惑；惟利是圖、實地獄中人也。

若輩既冥頑不靈、心棄天主、則天主亦愛莫能助、於是聽其昧心恣行、

世不能疾爾曹、其所以疾予者、以予指斥其非也。

是故人若違犯一至微之誡命、且以此教人者、天國中必小之。惟篤踐誡命、而又能以此教人者、在天國中乃稱為大。

所望吾人不復從欲而從神、庶幾律法之正義、得以成全於吾人之身。

讒言詆行、目無天主、傲慢驕矜、敗風壞俗、不順其親、

嗟爾蝮種、本性既惡、言何能善。蓋有蘊於心、口則宣之。

凡惡予者、即惡吾父也。予若未在眾前行人所不能行之靈蹟、則彼猶可無咎、今彼既睹之、而依然惡予與吾父也！

若夫聖神之果、則為仁愛、神樂、安怡、忍耐、慈祥、良善、忠信、溫恭、克己、凡此種種非律法所能制裁也。

於法外之人、吾亦儼然以法外之人自居、所以感化法外之人也；實則就天主及基督之妙法言之、吾亦法內之人耳。
