體欲之情者、不服上帝法、故逆上帝、蓋服法而不能焉、

體肉體、乃與天主為仇、因不服天主之法、且不能服也、

無他、蓋順於欲者、則逆於天主；如此自不甘服天主之法、且亦不能。

The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so.

The mind ruled by the power of sin is at war with God. It does not obey God’s law. It can’t.

What should we say then? Is the law sin? Absolutely not! On the contrary, I would not have known sin if it were not for the law. For example, I would not have known what it is to covet if the law had not said, Do not covet.And sin, seizing an opportunity through the commandment, produced in me coveting of every kind. For apart from the law sin is dead.Once I was alive apart from the law, but when the commandment came, sin sprang to lifeand I died. The commandment that was meant for life resulted in death for me.For sin, seizing an opportunity through the commandment, deceived me, and through it killed me.So then, the law is holy, and the commandment is holy and just and good.Therefore, did what is good cause my death? For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, then how much more, having been reconciled, will we be saved by His life!

Do we then cancel the law through faith? Absolutely not! On the contrary, we uphold the law.

They have eyes full of adultery and are always looking for sin. They seduce unstable people and have hearts trained in greed. Children under a curse!

And because they did not think it worthwhile to acknowledge God, God delivered them over to a worthless mind to do what is morally wrong.

Can the Cushite change his skin, or a leopard his spots? If so, you might be able to do what is good, you who are instructed in evil.

To those who are without that law, like one without the law— not being without God’s law but within Christ’s law— to win those without the law.
