因为受造之物服在虚空之下，不是自己愿意，乃是因那叫他如此的。

因为受造之物屈服在虚空之下，不是自己愿意，而是因那使它屈服的叫他如此。但受造之物仍然指望从败坏的辖制下得释放，得享上帝儿女荣耀的自由。

因為被造之物屈從在虛妄之下，並不是出於自願，而是出於使它屈從的那一位；

蓋受造之物服於虛、非其本願、因服之者之故耳、

萬物歸於虛、非其心、蓋有使之者、

萬物歸於虛、非其所願、乃有使之者、然仍有望、

夫芸芸眾生、迄今屈伏於無常之下、非出自願、有制之者耳。

For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope

The created world was held back from fulfilling its purpose. But this was not the result of its own choice. It was planned that way by the one who held it back. God planned

Against its will, all creation was subjected to God’s curse. But with eager hope,

For the creation was subjected to futility— not willingly, but because of him who subjected it— in the hope

For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope

For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope;

For the creation was subjected to vanity, not of its own will, but by reason of him who subjected it, in hope

For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected[ the same] in hope,

And to Adam he said,“ Because you have listened to the voice of your wife and have eaten of the tree of which I commanded you,‘ You shall not eat of it,’ cursed is the ground because of you; in pain you shall eat of it all the days of your life;thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you; and you shall eat the plants of the field.By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread, till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you shall return.”

and called his name Noah, saying,“ Out of the ground that the Lord has cursed, this one shall bring us relief from our work and from the painful toil of our hands.”

Vanity of vanities, says the Preacher, vanity of vanities! All is vanity.

For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now.

Even the doe in the field forsakes her newborn fawn because there is no grass.The wild donkeys stand on the bare heights; they pant for air like jackals; their eyes fail because there is no vegetation.

How long will the land mourn and the grass of every field wither? For the evil of those who dwell in it the beasts and the birds are swept away, because they said,“ He will not see our latter end.”

And God said to Noah,“ I have determined to make an end of all flesh, for the earth is filled with violence through them. Behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

They have made it a desolation; desolate, it mourns to me. The whole land is made desolate, but no man lays it to heart.

How the beasts groan! The herds of cattle are perplexed because there is no pasture for them; even the flocks of sheep suffer.

The earth lies defiled under its inhabitants; for they have transgressed the laws, violated the statutes, broken the everlasting covenant.Therefore a curse devours the earth, and its inhabitants suffer for their guilt; therefore the inhabitants of the earth are scorched, and few men are left.

Therefore the land mourns, and all who dwell in it languish, and also the beasts of the field and the birds of the heavens, and even the fish of the sea are taken away.

The tents of robbers are at peace, and those who provoke God are secure, who bring their god in their hand.“ But ask the beasts, and they will teach you; the birds of the heavens, and they will tell you;or the bushes of the earth, and they will teach you; and the fish of the sea will declare to you.Who among all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this?In his hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of all mankind.
