So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him,“ Abba, Father.”

蓋爾所受者、非畏首畏尾之奴隸情緒；爾所受者、乃為呼爺喚父之兒女精神也。

The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry,“ Abba, Father.”

The Spirit you received doesn’t make you slaves. Otherwise you would live in fear again. Instead, the Holy Spirit you received made you God’s adopted child. By the Spirit’s power we call God Abba. Abba means Father.

For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry,“ Abba! Father!”

God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children.And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out,“ Abba, Father.”Now you are no longer a slave but God’s own child. And since you are his child, God has made you his heir.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self discipline.

And we have received God’s Spirit( not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us.

God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.

Only in this way could he set free all who have lived their lives as slaves to the fear of dying.

For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children.

I will give them— within the walls of my house— a memorial and a name far greater than sons and daughters could give. For the name I give them is an everlasting one. It will never disappear!

Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.

“ I thought to myself,‘ I would love to treat you as my own children!’ I wanted nothing more than to give you this beautiful land— the finest possession in the world. I looked forward to your calling me‘ Father,’ and I wanted you never to turn from me.

“ Abba, Father,” he cried out,“ everything is possible for you. Please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.”

Furthermore, because we are united with Christ, we have received an inheritance from God, for he chose us in advance, and he makes everything work out according to his plan.God’s purpose was that we Jews who were the first to trust in Christ would bring praise and glory to God.And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago.The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him.

Jesus said,“ This is how you should pray:“ Father, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon.

You have not come to a physical mountain, to a place of flaming fire, darkness, gloom, and whirlwind, as the Israelites did at Mount Sinai.For they heard an awesome trumpet blast and a voice so terrible that they begged God to stop speaking.They staggered back under God’s command:“ If even an animal touches the mountain, it must be stoned to death.”Moses himself was so frightened at the sight that he said,“ I am terrified and trembling.”No, you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to countless thousands of angels in a joyful gathering.You have come to the assembly of God’s firstborn children, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God himself, who is the judge over all things. You have come to the spirits of the righteous ones in heaven who have now been made perfect.You have come to Jesus, the one who mediates the new covenant between God and people, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks of forgiveness instead of crying out for vengeance like the blood of Abel.

“ Don’t cling to me,” Jesus said,“ for I haven’t yet ascended to the Father. But go find my brothers and tell them,‘ I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”

“ Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.”

And they said to Moses,“ You speak to us, and we will listen. But don’t let God speak directly to us, or we will die!”

And when he comes, he will convict the world of its sin, and of God’s righteousness, and of the coming judgment.

And we believers also groan, even though we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future glory, for we long for our bodies to be released from sin and suffering. We, too, wait with eager hope for the day when God will give us our full rights as his adopted children, including the new bodies he has promised us.

As soon as he saw Jesus, he shrieked and fell down in front of him. Then he screamed,“ Why are you interfering with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? Please, I beg you, don’t torture me!”

Then the people of Israel said to Moses,“ Look, we are doomed! We are dead! We are ruined!

You say you have faith, for you believe that there is one God. Good for you! Even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror.

Peter’s words pierced their hearts, and they said to him and to the other apostles,“ Brothers, what should we do?”

And all the people in the region of the Gerasenes begged Jesus to go away and leave them alone, for a great wave of fear swept over them. So Jesus returned to the boat and left, crossing back to the other side of the lake.

The jailer called for lights and ran to the dungeon and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas.
