For you did not receive the spirit of slavery leading again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption, by whom we cry,“ Abba, Father.”

爾曹所受之神、非使爾自視為奴、致仍畏懼、爾曹所受之神、乃使爾自視為子、我儕由之而呼阿巴、父也、

蓋爾所受者、非畏首畏尾之奴隸情緒；爾所受者、乃為呼爺喚父之兒女精神也。

The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry,“ Abba, Father.”

The Spirit you received doesn’t make you slaves. Otherwise you would live in fear again. Instead, the Holy Spirit you received made you God’s adopted child. By the Spirit’s power we call God Abba. Abba means Father.

For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry,“ Abba! Father!”

So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him,“ Abba, Father.”

to redeem those who were under the law, so that we may be adopted as sons with full rights.And because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, who calls“ Abba! Father!”So you are no longer a slave but a son, and if you are a son, then you are also an heir through God.

For God did not give us a Spirit of fear but of power and love and self- control.

Now we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things that are freely given to us by God.

He did this by predestining us to adoption as his sons through Jesus Christ, according to the pleasure of his will–

and set free those who were held in slavery all their lives by their fear of death.

The Spirit himself bears witness to our spirit that we are God’s children.

I will set up within my temple and my walls a monument that will be better than sons and daughters. I will set up a permanent monument for them that will remain.

There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears punishment has not been perfected in love.

“ I thought to myself,‘ Oh what a joy it would be for me to treat you like a son! What a joy it would be for me to give you a pleasant land, the most beautiful piece of property there is in all the world!’ I thought you would call me,‘ Father’ and would never cease being loyal to me.

He said,“ Abba, Father, all things are possible for you. Take this cup away from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will.”

In Christ we too have been claimed as God’s own possession, since we were predestined according to the one purpose of him who accomplishes all things according to the counsel of his willso that we, who were the first to set our hope on Christ, would be to the praise of his glory.And when you heard the word of truth( the gospel of your salvation)– when you believed in Christ– you were marked with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit,who is the down payment of our inheritance, until the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of his glory.

So he said to them,“ When you pray, say: Father, may your name be honored; may your kingdom come.

For you have not come to something that can be touched, to a burning fire and darkness and gloom and a whirlwindand the blast of a trumpet and a voice uttering words such that those who heard begged to hear no more.For they could not bear what was commanded:“ If even an animal touches the mountain, it must be stoned.”In fact, the scene was so terrifying that Moses said,“ I shudder with fear.”But you have come to Mount Zion, the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of angels, to the assemblyand congregation of the firstborn, who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous, who have been made perfect,and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks of something better than Abel’s does.

Jesus replied,“ Do not touch me, for I have not yet ascended to my Father. Go to my brothers and tell them,‘ I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”

“ Father, if you are willing, take this cup away from me. Yet not my will but yours be done.”[

They said to Moses,“ You speak to us and we will listen, but do not let God speak with us, lest we die.”

And when he comes, he will prove the world wrong concerning sin and righteousness and judgment–

Not only this, but we ourselves also, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we eagerly await our adoption, the redemption of our bodies.

When he saw Jesus, he cried out, fell down before him, and shouted with a loud voice,“ Leave me alone, Jesus, Son of the Most High God! I beg you, do not torment me!”

The Israelites said to Moses,“ We are bound to die! We perish, we all perish!

You believe that God is one; well and good. Even the demons believe that– and tremble with fear.

Now when they heard this, they were acutely distressed and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles,“ What should we do, brothers?”

Then all the people of the Gerasenes and the surrounding region asked Jesus to leave them alone, for they were seized with great fear. So he got into the boat and left.

Calling for lights, the jailer rushed in and fell down trembling at the feet of Paul and Silas.
