如果隨著肉體而活，你們必定死；如果靠著聖靈治死身體的惡行，你們就必活著。

你们若顺从肉体活着，必要死；若靠着圣灵治死身体的恶行，必要活着。

For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.

If you live under the power of sin, you will die. But by the Spirit’s power you can put to death the sins you commit. Then you will live.

順著自己的肉體撒種的，必定從肉體收取敗壞；順著聖靈撒種的，必定從聖靈收取永生。

親愛的，我勸你們作客旅和寄居的人，要禁戒肉體的私慾，這私慾是與靈魂爭戰的。

所以要治死你們在地上的肢體，就如淫亂、污穢、邪情、惡慾和貪心，貪心就是拜偶像。因著這些事，神的忿怒必要臨到悖逆的人（有些抄本無“悖逆的人”）。你們從前在其中生活的時候，也曾經這樣行過。但現在你們要除去忿怒、惱怒、惡毒、毀謗，以及粗言穢語這一切事。

我要克制自己的身體，叫身體服我，免得我傳了給別人，自己反而落選了。

屬基督耶穌的人，是已經把肉體和邪情私慾都釘在十字架上了。

你們既因順從真理，潔淨了自己的心靈，以致能真誠地愛弟兄，就應當從清潔的心裡彼此切實相愛。

這恩典訓練我們除去不敬虔的心，和屬世的私慾，在今生過著自律、公正、敬虔的生活，

使律法所要求的義，可以在我們這些不隨從肉體而隨從聖靈去行的人身上實現出來。隨從肉體的人，以肉體的事為念；隨從聖靈的人，以聖靈的事為念。以肉體為念就是死，以聖靈為念就是生命、平安；

就要除去你們那照著從前生活方式而活的舊人。這舊人是隨著迷惑人的私慾漸漸敗壞的。

我們從前屬肉體的時候，罪惡的情慾藉著律法在我們的肢體裡發動，就結出死亡的果子。

每一個人受試探，都是被自己的私慾所勾引誘惑的。私慾懷了胎，就生出罪；罪長成了，就產生死亡。

肉體所行的都是顯而易見的，就如淫亂、污穢、邪蕩、拜偶像、行邪術、仇恨、爭競、忌恨、忿怒、自私、分黨、結派、嫉妒、醉酒、荒宴，和類似的事。我從前早就告訴過你們，現在又事先告訴你們：行這些事的人，必定不能承受神的國。

所以現在，那些在耶穌基督裡的人就不被定罪了；因為生命之靈的律在基督耶穌裡使我自由，脫離了罪和死的律。

因為罪的工價就是死，但神的恩賞，在我們的主基督耶穌裡，卻是永生。

不要醉酒，醉酒能使人放蕩亂性，卻要讓聖靈充滿。

不可讓神的聖靈憂傷，因為你們受了他的印記，等候得贖的日子。

那麼，你們在現今以為羞恥的事上，當時得了甚麼呢？那些事的結局就是死。

至於淫亂和任何污穢或貪心的事，在你們中間連提都不可提，才合聖徒的體統。更不要講淫穢和愚妄的話，或下流的笑話，這些都與你們不相稱；卻要說感謝的話。因為你們確實知道，無論是淫亂的、污穢的或貪心的（貪心就是拜偶像），都得不到在基督和神的國裡的基業。
