For when we were in the flesh, the sinful desires, aroused by the law, were active in the members of our body to bear fruit for death.

蓋我儕徇形軀時、其由律之惡慾動於肢體、厥果維死、

當我從欲時、情轉因律法而為惡、動乎四體、厥果惟死、

蓋我儕屬肉體之時、罪慾由律法而生者、動於我肢體、使我儕結果以致死、

當吾人尚在肉身之權下、吾人之四肢百體、在在受罪惡之牽引。此罪惡者、生於情慾、滋於律法、終則致死亡之果者也。

For when we were in the realm of the flesh, the sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in us, so that we bore fruit for death.

The power of sin used to control us. The law stirred up sinful desires in us. So the things we did resulted in death.

For while we were living in the flesh, our sinful passions, aroused by the law, were at work in our members to bear fruit for death.

When we were controlled by our old nature, sinful desires were at work within us, and the law aroused these evil desires that produced a harvest of sinful deeds, resulting in death.

For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions aroused through the law were working in us to bear fruit for death.

For while we were in the flesh, the sinful passions, which were brought to light by the Law, were at work in the parts of our body to bear fruit for death.

For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions which were aroused by the law were at work in our members to bear fruit to death.

For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions, which were through the law, wrought in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.

For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions operated through the law in every part of us and bore fruit for death.

For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.

For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions which were through the law worked in our members to bring out fruit to death.

among whom all of us also formerly lived out our lives in the cravings of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath even as the rest…

Now those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

But I say, live by the Spirit and you will not carry out the desires of the flesh.For the flesh has desires that are opposed to the Spirit, and the Spirit has desires that are opposed to the flesh, for these are in opposition to each other, so that you cannot do what you want.

and do not present your members to sin as instruments to be used for unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those who are alive from the dead and your members to God as instruments to be used for righteousness.

So what benefit did you then reap from those things that you are now ashamed of? For the end of those things is death.

For all who rely on doing the works of the law are under a curse, because it is written,“ Cursed is everyone who does not keep on doing everything written in the book of the law.”

The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.

So put to deat h whatever in your nature belongs to the earth: sexual immorality, impurity, shameful passion, evil desire, and greed which is idolatry.

Where do the conflicts and where do the quarrels among you come from? Is it not from this, from your passions that battle inside you?

Now the law came in so that the transgression may increase, but where sin increased, grace multiplied all the more,

Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness; indeed, sin is lawlessness.

For the law brings wrath, because where there is no law there is no transgression either.

Then when desire conceives, it gives birth to sin, and when sin is full grown, it gives birth to death.

Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, this person does not belong to him.

But I see a different law in my members waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that is in my members.

For no one is declared righteous before him by the works of the law, for through the law comes the knowledge of sin.

who made us adequate to be servants of a new covenant not based on the letter but on the Spirit, for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.But if the ministry that produced death– carved in letters on stone tablets– came with glory, so that the Israelites could not keep their eyes fixed on the face of Moses because of the glory of his face( a glory which was made ineffective),how much more glorious will the ministry of the Spirit be?For if there was glory in the ministry that produced condemnation, how much more does the ministry that produces righteousness excel in glory!

For out of the heart come evil ideas, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander.

Therefore remember that formerly you, the Gentiles in the flesh– who are called“ uncircumcision” by the so- called“ circumcision” that is performed on the body by human hands–

What is born of the flesh is flesh, and what is born of the Spirit is spirit.

What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Absolutely not! Certainly, I would not have known sin except through the law. For indeed I would not have known what it means to desire something belonging to someone else if the law had not said,“ Do not covet.”But sin, seizing the opportunity through the commandment, produced in me all kinds of wrong desires. For apart from the law, sin is dead.And I was once alive apart from the law, but with the coming of the commandment sin became aliveand I died. So I found that the very commandment that was intended to bring life brought death!For sin, seizing the opportunity through the commandment, deceived me and through it I died.So then, the law is holy, and the commandment is holy, righteous, and good.Did that which is good, then, become death to me? Absolutely not! But sin, so that it would be shown to be sin, produced death in me through what is good, so that through the commandment sin would become utterly sinful.

For this reason God gave them over to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged the natural sexual relations for unnatural ones,

For we too were once foolish, disobedient, misled, enslaved to various passions and desires, spending our lives in evil and envy, hateful and hating one another.

( I am speaking in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh.) For just as you once presented your members as slaves to impurity and lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness leading to sanctification.

For the payoff of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Now the works of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, depravity,idolatry, sorcery, hostilities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish rivalries, dissensions, factions,envying, murder, drunkenness, carousing, and similar things. I am warning you, as I had warned you before: Those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God!

But if you show prejudice, you are committing sin and are convicted by the law as violators.For the one who obeys the whole law but fails in one point has become guilty of all of it.
