For I know that in me( that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find.

蓋我知我形軀中無善、雖志於善、而未能行也、

亦知我情欲中無懿德、因好之者雖在前、而行其善者不得也、

我亦知我中、即在我肉體中、無有善、雖願為善、而為善不得、

吾知寓吾肉身之內者、實無片善可稱也。為善之願、未始無有；而為善之力、則未能有也。

For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.

I know there is nothing good in my desires controlled by sin. I want to do what is good, but I can’t.

For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out.

And I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. I want to do what is right, but I can’t.

For I know that good does not dwell in me, that is, in my flesh; for the willing is present in me, but the doing of the good is not.

I thank God— through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.

Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? No one!

Depart from me, you evildoers, For I will keep the commandments of my God!Uphold me according to Your word, that I may live; And do not let me be ashamed of my hope.Hold me up, and I shall be safe, And I shall observe Your statutes continually.

For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.

For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another.

And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

“ What is man, that he could be pure? And he who is born of a woman, that he could be righteous?If God puts no trust in His saints, And the heavens are not pure in His sight,How much less man, who is abominable and filthy, Who drinks iniquity like water!

for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.

For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness.All these evil things come from within and defile a man.”

And the Lord smelled a soothing aroma. Then the Lord said in His heart,“ I will never again curse the ground for man’s sake, although the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; nor will I again destroy every living thing as I have done.

And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins,in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience,among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us,even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ( by grace you have been saved),

Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Let Your hand become my help, For I have chosen Your precepts.

Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.

For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh,that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.Therefore, brethren, we are debtors— not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh.For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.

For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.

Behold, I long for Your precepts; Revive me in Your righteousness.

For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do.

For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions which were aroused by the law were at work in our members to bear fruit to death.

Oh, that my ways were directed To keep Your statutes!

How then can man be righteous before God? Or how can he be pure who is born of a woman?

I have gone astray like a lost sheep; Seek Your servant, For I do not forget Your commandments.

For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice.

Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness,idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies,envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”

that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.

I will run the course of Your commandments, For You shall enlarge my heart.

But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away.
