We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin.

We know that the law is holy. But I am not. I have been sold to be a slave of sin.

For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am of the flesh, sold under sin.

So the trouble is not with the law, for it is spiritual and good. The trouble is with me, for I am all too human, a slave to sin.

Still, there was no one like Ahab, who devoted himself to do what was evil in the Lord’s sight, because his wife Jezebel incited him.

They made their sons and daughters pass through the fire and practiced divination and interpreted omens. They devoted themselves to do what was evil in the Lord’s sight and provoked Him.

Ahab said to Elijah,“ So, you have caught me, my enemy.” He replied,“ I have caught you because you devoted yourself to do what is evil in the Lord’s sight.

For this is what the Lord says:“ You were sold for nothing, and you will be redeemed without silver.”

This is what the Lord says: Where is your mother’s divorce certificate that I used to send her away? Or who were My creditors that I sold you to? Look, you were sold for your iniquities, and your mother was put away because of your transgressions.

Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him.

Surely You desire integrity in the inner self, and You teach me wisdom deep within.

The Lord says: I will not relent from punishing Israel for three crimes, even four, because they sell a righteous person for silver and a needy person for a pair of sandals.

My life is down in the dust; give me life through Your word.

For I was kidnapped from the land of the Hebrews, and even here I have done nothing that they should put me in the dungeon.”

Brothers, I was not able to speak to you as spiritual people but as people of the flesh, as babies in Christ.I gave you milk to drink, not solid food, because you were not yet ready for it. In fact, you are still not ready,because you are still fleshly. For since there is envy and strife among you, are you not fleshly and living like unbelievers?

Since he had no way to pay it back, his master commanded that he, his wife, his children, and everything he had be sold to pay the debt.

The Pharisee took his stand and was praying like this:‘ God, I thank You that I’m not like other people— greedy, unrighteous, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.I fast twice a week; I give a tenth of everything I get.’“ But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even raise his eyes to heaven but kept striking his chest and saying,‘ God, turn Your wrath from me— a sinner!’I tell you, this one went down to his house justified rather than the other; because everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Jesus went with them, and when He was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to tell Him,“ Lord, don’t trouble Yourself, since I am not worthy to have You come under my roof.

For in my inner self I joyfully agree with God’s law.But I see a different law in the parts of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and taking me prisoner to the law of sin in the parts of my body.What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this dying body?

For the word of God is living and effective and sharper than any double-edged sword, penetrating as far as the separation of soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It is able to judge the ideas and thoughts of the heart.
