and this commandment, which was to result in life, proved to result in death for me;

那本来叫人活的诫命，反倒叫我死；

我却死了。于是我发现，那本该带来生命的诫命，它却导致了死亡。

那本來使人活的誡命，反而使我死了；

那本來要叫人活的誡命、我見得倒是叫人死的，

我卻死了。於是我發現，那本該帶來生命的誡命，它卻導致了死亡。

是致生之誡、適以致死、

誡本生我、反以死我、

是誡本為致生、反致我死、

夫誡命所以躋我於生也、結果反以致我於死者、何也？

I found that the very commandment that was intended to bring life actually brought death.

I found that the commandment that was supposed to bring life actually brought death.

The very commandment that promised life proved to be death to me.

and I died. So I discovered that the law’s commands, which were supposed to bring life, brought spiritual death instead.

and I died. The commandment that was meant for life resulted in death for me.

And the commandment, which was to bring life, I found to bring death.

and the commandment, which was unto life, this I found to be unto death:

And the commandment, which[ was ordained] to life, I found[ to be] unto death.

and I died. So I found that the very commandment that was intended to bring life brought death!

The commandment which was for life, this I found to be for death;

For Moses writes of the righteousness that is based on the Law, that the person who performs them will live by them.

So you shall keep My statutes and My judgments, which, if a person follows them, then he will live by them; I am the Lord.

But the children rebelled against Me; they did not walk in My statutes, nor were they careful to follow My ordinances which, if a person follows them, then he will live by them; they profaned My Sabbaths. So I resolved to pour out My wrath on them, to use up My anger against them in the wilderness.

I gave them My statutes and informed them of My ordinances, which, if a person follows them, then he will live by them.

And he answered,“ You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.”And He said to him,“ You have answered correctly; do this and you will live.”But wanting to justify himself, he said to Jesus,“ And who is my neighbor?”

But if the ministry of death, engraved in letters on stones, came with glory so that the sons of Israel could not look intently at the face of Moses because of the glory of his face, fading as it was,

However, the Law is not of faith; on the contrary,“ The person who performs them will live by them.”

But the house of Israel rebelled against Me in the wilderness. They did not walk in My statutes and they rejected My ordinances, which, if a person follows them, then he will live by them; and they greatly profaned My Sabbaths. Then I resolved to pour out My wrath on them in the wilderness, to annihilate them.
