因為知道我們的舊人已經和他同釘十字架，使罪的身體無能為力，叫我們不再給罪做奴僕；

應知吾人之故我、已與之同釘於十字架上；於是罪孽之身、已蕩然毀滅、而吾人不復為罪孽之奴矣。

For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin—

We know that what we used to be was nailed to the cross with him. That happened so our bodies that were ruled by sin would lose their power. So we are no longer slaves of sin.

我已經和基督同釘了十字架；現在活着的、不再是我了，乃是基督在我裏面活着。我如今在肉身上活的、乃是在於信上帝的兒子而活的；他愛了我，為我捨棄自己。

至於我呢、我斷不拿別的來誇口，只誇我們主耶穌基督的十字架；藉着這十字架，就我而論、世界是釘了十字架了；就世界而論、我也釘了十字架了。

屬基督耶穌的人是已經把肉體、同各樣的惡情和私慾、都釘上十字架了。

你們乃是要脫去那依故態而起居的舊人、順着誘惑人之私慾而漸漸敗壞的舊人，

耶穌回答他們說：『我實實在在地告訴你們，凡犯罪的就是奴隸。奴隸不永遠住在家裏；兒子永遠住着。所以兒子若使你們得自主，你們就真地自主了。

所以你們要看這在地上的肢體為死了的：就如淫亂、污穢、邪情、惡慾、和貪婪、（就是一種的拜偶像）。

別撒謊相騙了，因為你們已經脫掉了舊人同舊人的行為，而穿上了新造的人，按創造他者的像漸被更新、以至於有真認識的。

因為你們若順着肉體而活，就必死；若順着靈治死你們身體上的行為，就必活。

但如今呢、你們既得自由、脫離了罪、給上帝做奴僕，就有果子以至於聖化了：那結局乃是永生。

慘苦啊，我這個人！誰能援救我脫離這有死掌權的身體呢？感謝上帝，藉着我們的主耶穌基督、就能脫離了。這樣看來，論我自己、我是心思上給上帝之律做奴僕，而肉體上給罪之律做奴僕的。

在他裏面你們也藉着非人手行的割禮、由脫掉屬肉之身體的割禮、基督式的割禮、而受了割禮。在洗禮之中和他一同埋葬，也在洗禮之中憑着信心和他一同活起來：信上帝之運用動力、叫基督從死人中活起來的。

律法因肉體而軟弱、所不能成的、上帝倒成了：他差了他自己的兒子，用有罪的肉體之樣式、為除罪的緣故、在肉體中定了罪的罪案，使律法上所要求的義行、在我們這不順着肉體、而順着靈行的人身上得到完成。

永恆主我們的上帝啊，你以外曾有別的主上管理我們，但只有對你、我們要承認你的名。

所以不可容罪在你們能死的身體上掌王權，以致聽從它的私慾。

乃縵這才說：『不然，就請將兩騾馱子的土賜給僕人；從今以後、僕人就不再將燔祭、或平安祭獻與別的神了，只獻與永恆主。
