For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin—

We know that what we used to be was nailed to the cross with him. That happened so our bodies that were ruled by sin would lose their power. So we are no longer slaves of sin.

Wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me out of the body of this death?I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then I of myself with the mind, indeed, serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

O Jehovah our God, other lords besides thee have had dominion over us; but by thee only will we make mention of thy name.

Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey the lusts thereof:

And Naaman said, If not, yet, I pray thee, let there be given to thy servant two mules’ burden of earth; for thy servant will henceforth offer neither burnt- offering nor sacrifice unto other gods, but unto Jehovah.
