試一思之、爾昔日所行、今日所恥之種切、於爾究有何益？死亡為其必然之結果！

What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death!

But what fruit were you getting at that time from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death.

And what was the result? You are now ashamed of the things you used to do, things that end in eternal doom.

Therefore what benefit were you then deriving from the things of which you are now ashamed? For the outcome of those things is death.

Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.

Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

Then Jeremiah said unto all the people, to the men, and to the women, and to all the people which had given him[ that] answer, saying,The incense that ye burned in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, ye, and your fathers, your kings, and your princes, and the people of the land, did not the LORD remember them, and came it[ not] into his mind?So that the LORD could no longer bear, because of the evil of your doings,[ and] because of the abominations which ye have committed; therefore is your land a desolation, and an astonishment, and a curse, without an inhabitant, as at this day.Because ye have burned incense, and because ye have sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD, nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his testimonies; therefore this evil is happened unto you, as at this day.Moreover Jeremiah said unto all the people, and to all the women, Hear the word of the LORD, all Judah that[ are] in the land of Egypt:

Stolen waters are sweet, and bread[ eaten] in secret is pleasant.But he knoweth not that the dead[ are] there;[ and that] her guests[ are] in the depths of hell.

Wherefore I abhor[ myself], and repent in dust and ashes.

Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer thee? I will lay mine hand upon my mouth.

For the time[ is come] that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if[ it] first[ begin] at us, what shall the end[ be] of them that obey not the gospel of God?

They have sown wheat, but shall reap thorns: they have put themselves to pain,[ but] shall not profit: and they shall be ashamed of your revenues because of the fierce anger of the LORD.

Then shall ye remember your own evil ways, and your doings that[ were] not good, and shall lothe yourselves in your own sight for your iniquities and for your abominations.Not for your sakes do I[ this], saith the Lord GOD, be it known unto you: be ashamed and confounded for your own ways, O house of Israel.

At the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses, shall he that is worthy of death be put to death;[ but] at the mouth of one witness he shall not be put to death.

And David’s anger was greatly kindled against the man; and he said to Nathan,[ As] the LORD liveth, the man that hath done this[ thing] shall surely die:And he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity.And Nathan said to David, Thou[ art] the man. Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I anointed thee king over Israel, and I delivered thee out of the hand of Saul;

O Lord, righteousness[ belongeth] unto thee, but unto us confusion of faces, as at this day; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel,[ that are] near, and[ that are] far off, through all the countries whither thou hast driven them, because of their trespass that they have trespassed against thee.O Lord, to us[ belongeth] confusion of face, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against thee.

Say ye to the righteous, that[ it shall be] well[ with him]: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.

For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea,[ what] clearing of yourselves, yea,[ what] indignation, yea,[ what] fear, yea,[ what] vehement desire, yea,[ what] zeal, yea,[ what] revenge! In all[ things] ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter.

Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? nay, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore shall they fall among them that fall: in the time of their visitation they shall be cast down, saith the LORD.

I the LORD search the heart,[ I] try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways,[ and] according to the fruit of his doings.

Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.

Then thou shalt remember thy ways, and be ashamed, when thou shalt receive thy sisters, thine elder and thy younger: and I will give them unto thee for daughters, but not by thy covenant.And I will establish my covenant with thee; and thou shalt know that I[ am] the LORD:That thou mayest remember, and be confounded, and never open thy mouth any more because of thy shame, when I am pacified toward thee for all that thou hast done, saith the Lord GOD.

Until I went into the sanctuary of God;[ then] understood I their end.

Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours[ be] in the house of a stranger;And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed,And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!

Therefore the showers have been withholden, and there hath been no latter rain; and thou hadst a whore’s forehead, thou refusedst to be ashamed.

And said, O my God, I am ashamed and blush to lift up my face to thee, my God: for our iniquities are increased over[ our] head, and our trespass is grown up unto the heavens.

And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.

Surely after that I was turned, I repented; and after that I was instructed, I smote upon[ my] thigh: I was ashamed, yea, even confounded, because I did bear the reproach of my youth.

And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

Whose end[ is] destruction, whose God[ is their] belly, and[ whose] glory[ is] in their shame, who mind earthly things.)

For to be carnally minded[ is] death; but to be spiritually minded[ is] life and peace.
