原來他死，是一次性地向罪而死；他活，是向神而活。

神使那位沒有罪的替我們成為罪，好使我們在他裡面成為神的義。

我們沒有一個人是為自己而活，也沒有一個人是為自己而死。就是說，我們如果活著，是為主而活；如果死了，是為主而死。所以，我們無論是活著，還是死了，總是屬於主。正是為此，基督死了，而且復活了，要做死人和活人的主。

否則，從創世以來，他就必須再三地受難了。但如今，他在萬世的末期顯現了一次，好藉著獻上自己為祭，把罪除掉。就如人人註定都有一死，而且死後有審判，照樣，基督為了擔當眾人的罪孽，也被獻上一次；將來還要再一次顯現，不是為了罪，而是為了使那些熱切等待他的人得到救恩。

因肉體軟弱的緣故，律法所做不到的，神卻做到了——神派遣了自己的兒子成為罪的肉身樣式，並且為了贖罪，用肉身判決了罪，

照樣，你們就當看自己向罪是死的，但在基督耶穌裡向神卻是活的。
