( As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed,[ even] God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

亚伯拉罕所信的，是那叫死人复活、使无变为有的神，他在主面前作我们世人的父。如经上所记：“我已经立你作多国的父。”

亚伯拉罕在上帝面前是我们所有人的父，正如圣经上说：“我已经立你为万族之父。”他所信的上帝是能够使死人复活、使无变有的上帝。

正如经上所记：“我已经指派你为众多民族的父。”亚伯拉罕所信的那一位，就是叫死人得生命、使无变为有的神。

如經云、我立爾為萬邦之父、夫上帝即甦諸死者、命無為有者也、

經云、我命爾為萬民父焉、且上帝使死者生、變無為有亞伯拉罕篤信上帝、故在其前、得為吾眾之父、

蓋亞伯漢實為萬民之父。經曰：『吾使爾為萬邦之父』此之謂也。顧其所以能在天主之前為眾人之父者、亦曰篤信天主而已。蓋惟天主能予死者以生命、而出萬有於無有耳。

As it is written:“ I have made you a father of many nations.” He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed— the God who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that were not.

It is written,“ I have made you a father of many nations.”( Genesis 17:5) God considers Abraham to be our father. The God that Abraham believed in gives life to the dead. Abraham’s God also creates things that did not exist before.

as it is written,“ I have made you the father of many nations”— in the presence of the God in whom he believed, who gives life to the dead and calls into existence the things that do not exist.

That is what the Scriptures mean when God told him,“ I have made you the father of many nations.” This happened because Abraham believed in the God who brings the dead back to life and who creates new things out of nothing.

As it is written: I have made you the father of many nations— in the presence of the God in whom he believed, the one who gives life to the dead and calls things into existence that do not exist.

( as it is written:“ I have made you a father of many nations”) in the presence of Him whom he believed, that is, God, who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that do not exist.

( as it is written,“ I have made you a father of many nations”) in the presence of Him whom he believed— God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did;

( as it is written, A father of many nations have I made thee) before him whom he believed, even God, who giveth life to the dead, and calleth the things that are not, as though they were.

in God’s sight. As it is written: I have made you the father of many nations. He believed in God, who gives life to the dead and calls things into existence that do not exist.

( as it is written,“ I have made you the father of many nations”). He is our father in the presence of God whom he believed– the God who makes the dead alive and summons the things that do not yet exist as though they already do.

As it is written,“ I have made you a father of many nations.” This is in the presence of him whom he believed: God, who gives life to the dead, and calls the things that are not, as though they were.

And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen,[ yea], and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:

As for me, behold, my covenant[ is] with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.

For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate[ to be] conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth[ them]; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.

It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you,[ they] are spirit, and[ they] are life.

But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

And you[ hath he quickened], who were dead in trespasses and sins;Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ,( by grace ye are saved;)

Which in time past[ were] not a people, but[ are] now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.

For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap[ their] hands.

[ Is he] the God of the Jews only?[ is he] not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also:

Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead,[ so many] as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable.

I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and[ before] Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;

Behold, these shall come from far: and, lo, these from the north and from the west; and these from the land of Sinim.

By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.

But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day[ is] with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? and the things that are coming, and shall come, let them shew unto them.

And I will bless her, and give thee a son also of her: yea, I will bless her, and she shall be[ a mother] of nations; kings of people shall be of her.

For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath[ whereof] to glory; but not before God.

Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens:[ when] I call unto them, they stand up together.

And it shall come to pass,[ that] in the place where it was said unto them, Ye[ are] not my people; there shall they be called the children of the living God.

And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam[ was made] a quickening spirit.

I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth;

And God Almighty bless thee, and make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, that thou mayest be a multitude of people;

And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to[ our] father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation.

Then again Abraham took a wife, and her name[ was] Keturah.And she bare him Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah.And Jokshan begat Sheba, and Dedan. And the sons of Dedan were Asshurim, and Letushim, and Leummim.And the sons of Midian; Ephah, and Epher, and Hanoch, and Abida, and Eldaah. All these[ were] the children of Keturah.And Abraham gave all that he had unto Isaac.But unto the sons of the concubines, which Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts, and sent them away from Isaac his son, while he yet lived, eastward, unto the east country.And these[ are] the days of the years of Abraham’s life which he lived, an hundred threescore and fifteen years.Then Abraham gave up the ghost, and died in a good old age, an old man, and full[ of years]; and was gathered to his people.And his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, which[ is] before Mamre;The field which Abraham purchased of the sons of Heth: there was Abraham buried, and Sarah his wife.And it came to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blessed his son Isaac; and Isaac dwelt by the well Lahairoi.Now these[ are] the generations of Ishmael, Abraham’s son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah’s handmaid, bare unto Abraham:And these[ are] the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to their generations: the firstborn of Ishmael, Nebajoth; and Kedar, and Adbeel, and Mibsam,And Mishma, and Dumah, and Massa,Hadar, and Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah:These[ are] the sons of Ishmael, and these[ are] their names, by their towns, and by their castles; twelve princes according to their nations.And these[ are] the years of the life of Ishmael, an hundred and thirty and seven years: and he gave up the ghost and died; and was gathered unto his people.And they dwelt from Havilah unto Shur, that[ is] before Egypt, as thou goest toward Assyria:[ and] he died in the presence of all his brethren.And these[ are] the generations of Isaac, Abraham’s son: Abraham begat Isaac:And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padanaram, the sister to Laban the Syrian.And Isaac intreated the LORD for his wife, because she[ was] barren: and the LORD was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived.And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If[ it be] so, why[ am] I thus? And she went to enquire of the LORD.And the LORD said unto her, Two nations[ are] in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and[ the one] people shall be stronger than[ the other] people; and the elder shall serve the younger.And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold,[ there were] twins in her womb.And the first came out red, all over like an hairy garment; and they called his name Esau.And after that came his brother out, and his hand took hold on Esau’s heel; and his name was called Jacob: and Isaac[ was] threescore years old when she bare them.And the boys grew: and Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field; and Jacob[ was] a plain man, dwelling in tents.And Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of[ his] venison: but Rebekah loved Jacob.And Jacob sod pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he[ was] faint:And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red[ pottage]; for I[ am] faint: therefore was his name called Edom.And Jacob said, Sell me this day thy birthright.And Esau said, Behold, I[ am] at the point to die: and what profit shall this birthright do to me?And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he sware unto him: and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised[ his] birthright.

Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.
