For if they become heirs by the law, faith is empty and the promise is nullified.

若是属乎律法的人才得为后嗣，信就归于虚空，应许也就废弃了。

若是属于律法的人才是后嗣，信就落空了，应许也就失效了。

若是属于律法的人才是后嗣，信就落空了，应许也就失效了。

如果只有遵行律法的人才可以承受应许，信心就没有价值，上帝的应许也就落了空。

如果属于律法的人才能成为后嗣，信就没有作用，应许也就落空了。

这是因为，如果本于律法的才是继承人，信就落了空，应许也就无效了。

若由律者為嗣、信則虛、許亦廢矣、

若恃法為嗣子、則信歸烏有、許亦無益、

若屬律法者為嗣子、則信歸於虛、所許亦廢矣、

若惟屬於律法者得為嗣子、是不啻廢棄信德、而致恩諾於無效也。

For if those who depend on the law are heirs, faith means nothing and the promise is worthless,

Do those who depend on the law receive the promise? If they do, faith would mean nothing. God’s promise would be worthless.

For if it is the adherents of the law who are to be the heirs, faith is null and the promise is void.

If God’s promise is only for those who obey the law, then faith is not necessary and the promise is pointless.

If those who are of the law are heirs, faith is made empty and the promise nullified,

For if those who are of the Law are heirs, then faith is made void and the promise is nullified;

For if those who are of the law are heirs, faith is made void and the promise made of no effect,

For if they that are of the law are heirs, faith is made void, and the promise is made of none effect:

If those who are of the law are heirs, faith is made empty and the promise is canceled.

For if they which are of the law[ be] heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect:

For if the inheritance is based on the law, it is no longer based on the promise, but God graciously gave it to Abraham through the promise.Why then was the law given? It was added because of transgressions, until the arrival of the descendant to whom the promise had been made. It was administered through angels by an intermediary.Now an intermediary is not for one party alone, but God is one.Is the law therefore opposed to the promises of God? Absolutely not! For if a law had been given that was able to give life, then righteousness would certainly have come by the law.But the scripture imprisoned everything and everyone under sin so that the promise could be given– because of the faithfulness of Jesus Christ– to those who believe.Now before faith came we were held in custody under the law, being kept as prisoners until the coming faith would be revealed.Thus the law had become our guardian until Christ, so that we could be declared righteous by faith.

But if her husband clearly nullifies them when he hears them, then whatever she says by way of vows or obligations will not stand. Her husband has made them void, and the LORD will release her from them.

It is time for the LORD to act– they break your law!

In this place I will thwart the plans of the people of Judah and Jerusalem. I will deliver them over to the power of their enemies who are seeking to kill them. They will die by the sword at the hands of their enemies. I will make their dead bodies food for the birds and wild beasts to eat.

Do we then nullify the law through faith? Absolutely not! Instead we uphold the law.

I do not set aside God’s grace, because if righteousness could come through the law, then Christ died for nothing!

You who are trying to be declared righteous by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace!

For this reason it is by faith so that it may be by grace, with the result that the promise may be certain to all the descendants– not only to those who are under the law, but also to those who have the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all

For the law appoints as high priests men subject to weakness, but the word of solemn affirmation that came after the law appoints a son made perfect forever.

and be found in him, not because I have my own righteousness derived from the law, but because I have the righteousness that comes by way of Christ’s faithfulness– a righteousness from God that is in fact based on Christ’s faithfulness.

for the law made nothing perfect. On the other hand a better hope is introduced, through which we draw near to God.

In the same way, the promise that I make does not return to me, having accomplished nothing. No, it is realized as I desire and is fulfilled as I intend.”

But if he should nullify them after he has heard them, then he will bear her iniquity.”
