其受割之儀式、不過為因信成義之印證、而其信德則於未割之時、固已全具矣。因是亞伯漢乃為未受割而因信成義者之父、

And he received circumcision as a sign, a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith while he was still uncircumcised. So then, he is the father of all who believe but have not been circumcised, in order that righteousness might be credited to them.

He was circumcised as a sign of the covenant God had made with him. It showed that his faith had made him right with God before he was circumcised. So Abraham is the father of all believers who have not been circumcised. God accepts their faith. So their faith makes them right with him.

He received the sign of circumcision as a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith while he was still uncircumcised. The purpose was to make him the father of all who believe without being circumcised, so that righteousness would be counted to them as well,

Circumcision was a sign that Abraham already had faith and that God had already accepted him and declared him to be righteous— even before he was circumcised. So Abraham is the spiritual father of those who have faith but have not been circumcised. They are counted as righteous because of their faith.

And he received the sign of circumcision as a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith while still uncircumcised. This was to make him the father of all who believe but are not circumcised, so that righteousness may be credited to them also.

and he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had while uncircumcised, so that he might be the father of all who believe without being circumcised, that righteousness might be credited to them,

那就是：神的義藉著對耶穌基督的信仰，臨到所有信的人，並沒有分別。

耶穌對他說：「今天救恩臨到了這一家，因為他也是亞伯拉罕的子孫。

因著信，挪亞在那還看不見的事上得了神的指示，就動了敬畏的心，建造了一隻方舟，以至於他的家人獲救。藉著信，他定了世界的罪，自己也繼承了從信而來的義。

他又在我們身上蓋了印，並且賜聖靈在我們心裡做為預付憑據。

耶穌對他們說：「我就是生命的糧。到我這裡來的人，絕不飢餓；信我的人，永不乾渴。

不要讓神的聖靈憂傷；你們蒙了他的印記，直到得贖的日子。

在基督裡，你們也聽從了真理的話語，就是那使你們得救的福音，並且信了基督，就蒙了所應許的聖靈為印記。

而且他也成為受割禮之人的父，不僅為那些受了割禮的人，還為那些順著我們的先祖亞伯拉罕信心之腳蹤行走的人；亞伯拉罕的信心在他沒有受割禮的時候就已經有了。原來，賜給亞伯拉罕和他後裔繼承世界的應許，不是藉著律法，而是藉著因信而得的義。

有話吩咐牠們不可傷害地上的草、任何綠色植物、任何樹木，只可傷害那些額上沒有神印記的人；

而且，如果你們屬於基督，你們就是亞伯拉罕的後裔，是照著應許的繼承人。

並且要被認定在他裡面——不是擁有那本於律法的自己的義，而是擁有那藉著信基督而來的義，就是來自神、基於信的義；

耶穌對她說：「我就是復活，我就是生命。信我的人，即使死了，也將要活。所有活著而信我的人絕不會死，直到永遠。你信這話嗎？」

信從子的人，就有永恆的生命；但是不肯信從子的人，見不到生命，而且神的震怒也停留在他身上。

「我確確實實地告訴你們：信我的人，就有永恆的生命。

他們回答：「我們是亞伯拉罕的後裔，從來沒有做過誰的奴僕。你怎麼說『你們將要得自由』呢？」

事實上，基督是律法的終結，使所有相信的人都以致稱義。

為了在現今的時刻顯明他的義，好表明他自己為義，也稱信耶穌的人為義。

要知道，我們藉著聖靈，本於信，滿懷著稱義的盼望；

要知道，我父的旨意正是：所有看見子而信他的人都得到永恆的生命，並且在末日，我將要使他復活。」

然而，經上的話把萬物都圈在罪孽之下，為要使這因信耶穌基督而來的應許，賜給那些相信的人。

我告訴你們：將有許多人從東從西而來，在天國裡與亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各一同坐席。

但這並不是說神的話語落了空，因為由以色列所生的，並不都是以色列人；

耶穌基督的奴僕和使徒西門彼得，致那些藉著我們的神、救主耶穌基督的義，與我們領受同樣寶貴信仰的人：

其實外表上做猶太人的，並不是猶太人；外表上、肉身上的割禮，也不是割禮。然而，在內心做猶太人的才是猶太人；同樣，內心的割禮才是割禮——不是靠著律法條文而是靠著聖靈；這樣的人得到的稱讚不是從人來的，而是從神來的。

好使所有相信他的人，都得到永恆的生命。「神愛世人，甚至賜下他的獨生子，好讓所有信他的人不至於滅亡，反得永恆的生命，

西門彼得回答說：「你是基督，是永生神的兒子！」

為此，這應許是本於信，好使這應許照著恩典，能確保給所有的後裔——不僅是給屬律法的，也是給屬亞伯拉罕信心的。亞伯拉罕在神面前是我們每個人的父，正如經上所記：「我已經指派你為眾多民族的父。」亞伯拉罕所信的那一位，就是叫死人得生命、使無變為有的神。亞伯拉罕在沒有盼望的時候，仍然懷著盼望去相信，因而成為眾多民族的父，正如先前所說：「你的後裔將要如此眾多。」

信我的人，就如經上所說的，從他的腹中將要湧流出活水的江河。」耶穌這話是指著信他的人所要領受的聖靈而說的。當時，聖靈還沒有臨到，因為耶穌還沒有得榮耀。

凡是照著這原則行走的人，願平安和憐憫臨到他們，也臨到神的以色列民！

你們中所有的男子都要受割禮，這就是我與你以及你的後裔所立的約，是你們當遵守的。你們要割去肉體上的包皮，這就是我與你們立約的標記。

因此你們應當知道：那些本於信的，他們才是亞伯拉罕的子孫。

因為經上說：「所有信靠他的人將不至於蒙羞。」

那麼，我們要怎麼說呢？那原來沒有追求義的外邦人，卻得到了義，就是因信而得的義；

而有關本於信的義，卻這樣吩咐：「你心裡不用說：誰要升到天上去？」——這意思是要把基督帶下來；

正如經上所記：「看哪，我在錫安放一塊絆腳的石頭，是使人絆倒的磐石；可是信靠他的人將不至於蒙羞。」
