何時視為義、受割禮之後乎、抑受割禮之前乎、非受割禮之後、乃受割禮之前、

試問其若之何而成義耶？在受割之後乎？抑在受割之前乎？曰：不在受割之後、而在受割之前也。

How then was it reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision:

Here is my covenant that you and your family after you must keep. You and every male among you must be circumcised.

When Abram was 99 years old, the Lord appeared to him. He said,“ I am the Mighty God. Walk faithfully with me. Live in a way that pleases me.

Circumcision and uncircumcision aren’t worth anything to those who believe in Christ Jesus. The only thing that really counts is faith that shows itself through love.

Your children’s grandchildren will come back here. That’s because the sin of the Amorites has not yet reached the point where I must punish them.”

Was a man already circumcised when God chose him? Then he should not become uncircumcised. Was he uncircumcised when God chose him? Then he should not be circumcised.Being circumcised means nothing. Being uncircumcised means nothing. Doing what God commands is what counts.

The Lord took Abram outside and said,“ Look up at the sky. Count the stars, if you can.” Then he said to him,“ That’s how many children will be born into your family.”Abram believed the Lord. The Lord was pleased with Abram because he believed. So Abram’s faith made him right with the Lord.

Circumcision and uncircumcision don’t mean anything. What really counts is that the new creation has come.

On that same day Abraham circumcised his son Ishmael. He also circumcised every male who was born into his family or bought with his money. He did exactly as God had told him.Abraham was 99 years old when he was circumcised.His son Ishmael was 13.Abraham and his son Ishmael were both circumcised on that same day.And every male in Abraham’s household was circumcised along with him. That included those born into his family or bought from a stranger.

Abram’s wife Sarai had never had any children by him. But she had a female slave from Egypt named Hagar.So she said to Abram,“ The Lord has kept me from having children. Go and sleep with my slave. Maybe I can have a family through her.” Abram agreed to what Sarai had said.His wife Sarai gave him her slave Hagar to be his wife. That was after he had been living in Canaan for ten years.
