But if through my lie God’s truth abounds to his glory, why am I still being condemned as a sinner?

若神的真实，因我的虚谎越发显出他的荣耀，为什么我还受审判，好像罪人呢？

若上帝的真实因我的虚谎越发显出他的荣耀，为什么我还像罪人一样受审判呢？

你们又说：“如果我们的虚谎凸显出上帝的真实，增加祂的荣耀，为什么祂还要把我们当作罪人审判呢？”

但是神的诚实，如果因我的虚谎而更加显出他的荣耀来，为什么我还要像罪人一样受审判呢？

那么，如果神的真实因我的虚谎使他的荣耀更加丰盛，为什么我还要像罪人一样被定罪呢？

若神的真實，因我的虛謊越發顯出他的榮耀，為甚麼我還受審判，好像罪人呢？

若上帝的真實因我的虛謊越發顯出他的榮耀，為甚麼我還像罪人一樣受審判呢？

你們又說：「如果我們的虛謊凸顯出上帝的真實，增加祂的榮耀，為什麼祂還要把我們當作罪人審判呢？」

但是神的誠實，如果因我的虛謊而更加顯出他的榮耀來，為甚麼我還要像罪人一樣受審判呢？

但上帝的真實如果因我的虛假越發彰顯他的榮耀來，為甚麼我還被斷為罪人呢？

那麼，如果神的真實因我的虛謊使他的榮耀更加豐盛，為什麼我還要像罪人一樣被定罪呢？

若上帝之誠、因我之偽而益致其榮、則我何仍見鞫如罪人乎、

曰、若我之偽、益彰上帝之誠以致其榮、則我何反見擬如罪人乎、

若天主之真、因我之偽、而愈顯以致其榮、則我何又見擬如罪人乎、

曰：今夫天主之真、既賴吾人之偽、而發揚光大、則吾之被判為罪人、不亦枉乎？

Someone might argue,“ If my falsehood enhances God’s truthfulness and so increases his glory, why am I still condemned as a sinner?”

Someone might argue,“ When I lie, it becomes clearer that God is truthful. It makes his glory shine more brightly. Why then does he find me guilty of sin?”

“ But,” someone might still argue,“ how can God condemn me as a sinner if my dishonesty highlights his truthfulness and brings him more glory?”

But if by my lie God’s truth abounds to his glory, why am I also still being judged as a sinner?

But if through my lie the truth of God abounded to His glory, why am I also still being judged as a sinner?

For if the truth of God has increased through my lie to His glory, why am I also still judged as a sinner?

But if the truth of God through my lie abounded unto his glory, why am I also still judged as a sinner?

But if by my lie God’s truth is amplified to His glory, why am I also still judged as a sinner?

For if the truth of God hath more abounded through my lie unto his glory; why yet am I also judged as a sinner?

For if by my lie the truth of God enhances his glory, why am I still actually being judged as a sinner?

For if the truth of God through my lie abounded to his glory, why am I also still judged as a sinner?

By no means! Let God be true though every one were a liar, as it is written,“ That you may be justified in your words, and prevail when you are judged.”

Jesus said to him,“ Truly, I tell you, this very night, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.”

You will say to me then,“ Why does he still find fault? For who can resist his will?”But who are you, O man, to answer back to God? Will what is molded say to its molder,“ Why have you made me like this?”

Against a godless nation I send him, and against the people of my wrath I command him, to take spoil and seize plunder, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.But he does not so intend, and his heart does not so think; but it is in his heart to destroy, and to cut off nations not a few;

this Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men.

Now Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard. And a servant girl came up to him and said,“ You also were with Jesus the Galilean.”But he denied it before them all, saying,“ I do not know what you mean.”And when he went out to the entrance, another servant girl saw him, and she said to the bystanders,“ This man was with Jesus of Nazareth.”And again he denied it with an oath:“ I do not know the man.”After a little while the bystanders came up and said to Peter,“ Certainly you too are one of them, for your accent betrays you.”Then he began to invoke a curse on himself and to swear,“ I do not know the man.” And immediately the rooster crowed.And Peter remembered the saying of Jesus,“ Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.” And he went out and wept bitterly.

And when the prophet who had brought him back from the way heard of it, he said,“ It is the man of God who disobeyed the word of the Lord; therefore the Lord has given him to the lion, which has torn him and killed him, according to the word that the Lord spoke to him.”And he said to his sons,“ Saddle the donkey for me.” And they saddled it.And he went and found his body thrown in the road, and the donkey and the lion standing beside the body. The lion had not eaten the body or torn the donkey.And the prophet took up the body of the man of God and laid it on the donkey and brought it back to the city to mourn and to bury him.And he laid the body in his own grave. And they mourned over him, saying,“ Alas, my brother!”And after he had buried him, he said to his sons,“ When I die, bury me in the grave in which the man of God is buried; lay my bones beside his bones.For the saying that he called out by the word of the Lord against the altar in Bethel and against all the houses of the high places that are in the cities of Samaria shall surely come to pass.”

For those who live in Jerusalem and their rulers, because they did not recognize him nor understand the utterances of the prophets, which are read every Sabbath, fulfilled them by condemning him.And though they found in him no guilt worthy of death, they asked Pilate to have him executed.And when they had carried out all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree and laid him in a tomb.

And Elisha said to him,“ Go, say to him,‘ You shall certainly recover,’ but the Lord has shown me that he shall certainly die.”And he fixed his gaze and stared at him, until he was embarrassed. And the man of God wept.And Hazael said,“ Why does my lord weep?” He answered,“ Because I know the evil that you will do to the people of Israel. You will set on fire their fortresses, and you will kill their young men with the sword and dash in pieces their little ones and rip open their pregnant women.”And Hazael said,“ What is your servant, who is but a dog, that he should do this great thing?” Elisha answered,“ The Lord has shown me that you are to be king over Syria.”Then he departed from Elisha and came to his master, who said to him,“ What did Elisha say to you?” And he answered,“ He told me that you would certainly recover.”But the next day he took the bed cloth and dipped it in water and spread it over his face, till he died. And Hazael became king in his place.

Come now, let us kill him and throw him into one of the pits. Then we will say that a fierce animal has devoured him, and we will see what will become of his dreams.”

Thus the Lord saved Israel that day from the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore.

But I know that the king of Egypt will not let you go unless compelled by a mighty hand.

Then he commanded the steward of his house,“ Fill the men’s sacks with food, as much as they can carry, and put each man’s money in the mouth of his sack,and put my cup, the silver cup, in the mouth of the sack of the youngest, with his money for the grain.” And he did as Joseph told him.As soon as the morning was light, the men were sent away with their donkeys.They had gone only a short distance from the city. Now Joseph said to his steward,“ Up, follow after the men, and when you overtake them, say to them,‘ Why have you repaid evil for good?Is it not from this that my lord drinks, and by this that he practices divination? You have done evil in doing this.’”When he overtook them, he spoke to them these words.They said to him,“ Why does my lord speak such words as these? Far be it from your servants to do such a thing!Behold, the money that we found in the mouths of our sacks we brought back to you from the land of Canaan. How then could we steal silver or gold from your lord’s house?Whichever of your servants is found with it shall die, and we also will be my lord’s servants.”He said,“ Let it be as you say: he who is found with it shall be my servant, and the rest of you shall be innocent.”Then each man quickly lowered his sack to the ground, and each man opened his sack.And he searched, beginning with the eldest and ending with the youngest. And the cup was found in Benjamin’s sack.Then they tore their clothes, and every man loaded his donkey, and they returned to the city.When Judah and his brothers came to Joseph’s house, he was still there. They fell before him to the ground.

His brothers said to him,“ Are you indeed to reign over us? Or are you indeed to rule over us?” So they hated him even more for his dreams and for his words.Then he dreamed another dream and told it to his brothers and said,“ Behold, I have dreamed another dream. Behold, the sun, the moon, and eleven stars were bowing down to me.”

for it was said to me by the word of the Lord,‘ You shall neither eat bread nor drink water there, nor return by the way that you came.’”And he said to him,“ I also am a prophet as you are, and an angel spoke to me by the word of the Lord, saying,‘ Bring him back with you into your house that he may eat bread and drink water.’” But he lied to him.

When the king of Egypt was told that the people had fled, the mind of Pharaoh and his servants was changed toward the people, and they said,“ What is this we have done, that we have let Israel go from serving us?”

His brothers also came and fell down before him and said,“ Behold, we are your servants.”But Joseph said to them,“ Do not fear, for am I in the place of God?As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.
