But if by my lie God’s truth abounds to his glory, why am I also still being judged as a sinner?

若神的真实，因我的虚谎越发显出他的荣耀，为什么我还受审判，好像罪人呢？

若上帝的真实因我的虚谎越发显出他的荣耀，为什么我还像罪人一样受审判呢？

你们又说：“如果我们的虚谎凸显出上帝的真实，增加祂的荣耀，为什么祂还要把我们当作罪人审判呢？”

但是神的诚实，如果因我的虚谎而更加显出他的荣耀来，为什么我还要像罪人一样受审判呢？

那么，如果神的真实因我的虚谎使他的荣耀更加丰盛，为什么我还要像罪人一样被定罪呢？

若神的真實，因我的虛謊越發顯出他的榮耀，為甚麼我還受審判，好像罪人呢？

若上帝的真實因我的虛謊越發顯出他的榮耀，為甚麼我還像罪人一樣受審判呢？

你們又說：「如果我們的虛謊凸顯出上帝的真實，增加祂的榮耀，為什麼祂還要把我們當作罪人審判呢？」

但是神的誠實，如果因我的虛謊而更加顯出他的榮耀來，為甚麼我還要像罪人一樣受審判呢？

但上帝的真實如果因我的虛假越發彰顯他的榮耀來，為甚麼我還被斷為罪人呢？

那麼，如果神的真實因我的虛謊使他的榮耀更加豐盛，為什麼我還要像罪人一樣被定罪呢？

若上帝之誠、因我之偽而益致其榮、則我何仍見鞫如罪人乎、

曰、若我之偽、益彰上帝之誠以致其榮、則我何反見擬如罪人乎、

若天主之真、因我之偽、而愈顯以致其榮、則我何又見擬如罪人乎、

曰：今夫天主之真、既賴吾人之偽、而發揚光大、則吾之被判為罪人、不亦枉乎？

Someone might argue,“ If my falsehood enhances God’s truthfulness and so increases his glory, why am I still condemned as a sinner?”

Someone might argue,“ When I lie, it becomes clearer that God is truthful. It makes his glory shine more brightly. Why then does he find me guilty of sin?”

But if through my lie God’s truth abounds to his glory, why am I still being condemned as a sinner?

“ But,” someone might still argue,“ how can God condemn me as a sinner if my dishonesty highlights his truthfulness and brings him more glory?”

But if through my lie the truth of God abounded to His glory, why am I also still being judged as a sinner?

For if the truth of God has increased through my lie to His glory, why am I also still judged as a sinner?

But if the truth of God through my lie abounded unto his glory, why am I also still judged as a sinner?

But if by my lie God’s truth is amplified to His glory, why am I also still judged as a sinner?

For if the truth of God hath more abounded through my lie unto his glory; why yet am I also judged as a sinner?

For if by my lie the truth of God enhances his glory, why am I still actually being judged as a sinner?

For if the truth of God through my lie abounded to his glory, why am I also still judged as a sinner?

Absolutely not! Let God be true, even though everyone is a liar, as it is written: That you may be justified in your words and triumph when you judge.

“ Truly I tell you,” Jesus said to him,“ tonight, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.”

You will say to me, therefore,“ Why then does he still find fault? For who resists his will?”On the contrary, who are you, a human being, to talk back to God? Will what is formed say to the one who formed it,“ Why did you make me like this?”

I will send him against a godless nation; I will command him to go against a people destined for my rage, to take spoils, to plunder, and to trample them down like clay in the streets.But this is not what he intends; this is not what he plans. It is his intent to destroy and to cut off many nations.

Though he was delivered up according to God’s determined plan and foreknowledge, you used lawless people to nail him to a cross and kill him.

Now Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard. A servant girl approached him and said,“ You were with Jesus the Galilean too.”But he denied it in front of everyone:“ I don’t know what you’re talking about.”When he had gone out to the gateway, another woman saw him and told those who were there,“ This man was with Jesus the Nazarene!”And again he denied it with an oath:“ I don’t know the man!”After a little while those standing there approached and said to Peter,“ You really are one of them, since even your accent gives you away.”Then he started to curse and to swear with an oath,“ I don’t know the man!” Immediately a rooster crowed,and Peter remembered the words Jesus had spoken,“ Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.” And he went outside and wept bitterly.

When the prophet who had brought him back from his way heard about it, he said,“ He is the man of God who disobeyed the LORD’s command. The LORD has given him to the lion, and it has mauled and killed him, according to the word of the LORD that he spoke to him.”Then the old prophet instructed his sons,“ Saddle the donkey for me.” They saddled it,and he went and found the corpse thrown on the road with the donkey and the lion standing beside the corpse. The lion had not eaten the corpse or mauled the donkey.So the prophet lifted the corpse of the man of God and laid it on the donkey and brought it back. The old prophet came into the city to mourn and to bury him.Then he laid the corpse in his own grave, and they mourned over him,“ Oh, my brother!”After he had buried him, he said to his sons,“ When I die, bury me in the grave where the man of God is buried; lay my bones beside his bones,for the message that he cried out by the word of the LORD against the altar in Bethel and against all the shrines of the high places in the cities of Samaria is certain to happen.”

Since the residents of Jerusalem and their rulers did not recognize him or the sayings of the prophets that are read every Sabbath, they have fulfilled their words by condemning him.Though they found no grounds for the death sentence, they asked Pilate to have him killed.When they had carried out all that had been written about him, they took him down from the tree and put him in a tomb.

Elisha told him,“ Go say to him,‘ You are sure to recover.’ But the LORD has shown me that he is sure to die.”Then he stared steadily at him until he was ashamed. The man of God wept,and Hazael asked,“ Why is my lord weeping?” He replied,“ Because I know the evil you will do to the people of Israel. You will set their fortresses on fire. You will kill their young men with the sword. You will dash their children to pieces. You will rip open their pregnant women.”Hazael said,“ How could your servant, a mere dog, do such a mighty deed?” Elisha answered,“ The LORD has shown me that you will be king over Aram.”Hazael left Elisha and went to his master, who asked him,“ What did Elisha say to you?” He responded,“ He told me you are sure to recover.”The next day Hazael took a heavy cloth, dipped it in water, and spread it over the king’s face. Ben-hadad died, and Hazael reigned in his place.

So now, come on, let’s kill him and throw him into one of the pits. We can say that a vicious animal ate him. Then we’ll see what becomes of his dreams!”

That day the LORD saved Israel from the power of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore.

“ However, I know that the king of Egypt will not allow you to go, even under force from a strong hand.

Joseph commanded his steward,“ Fill the men’s bags with as much food as they can carry, and put each one’s silver at the top of his bag.Put my cup, the silver one, at the top of the youngest one’s bag, along with the silver for his grain.” So he did as Joseph told him.At morning light, the men were sent off with their donkeys.They had not gone very far from the city when Joseph said to his steward,“ Get up. Pursue the men, and when you overtake them, say to them,‘ Why have you repaid evil for good?Isn’t this the cup that my master drinks from and uses for divination? What you have done is wrong!’”When he overtook them, he said these words to them.They said to him,“ Why does my lord say these things? Your servants could not possibly do such a thing.We even brought back to you from the land of Canaan the silver we found at the top of our bags. How could we steal silver or gold from your master’s house?If it is found with one of us, your servants, he must die, and the rest of us will become my lord’s slaves.”The steward replied,“ What you have said is right, but only the one who is found to have it will be my slave, and the rest of you will be blameless.”So each one quickly lowered his sack to the ground and opened it.The steward searched, beginning with the oldest and ending with the youngest, and the cup was found in Benjamin’s sack.Then they tore their clothes, and each one loaded his donkey and returned to the city.When Judah and his brothers reached Joseph’s house, he was still there. They fell to the ground before him.

“ Are you really going to reign over us?” his brothers asked him.“ Are you really going to rule us?” So they hated him even more because of his dream and what he had said.Then he had another dream and told it to his brothers.“ Look,” he said,“ I had another dream, and this time the sun, moon, and eleven stars were bowing down to me.”

For a message came to me by the word of the LORD:‘ You must not eat food or drink water there or go back by the way you came.’”He said to him,“ I am also a prophet like you. An angel spoke to me by the word of the LORD:‘ Bring him back with you to your house so that he may eat food and drink water.’” The old prophet deceived him,

When the king of Egypt was told that the people had fled, Pharaoh and his officials changed their minds about the people and said,“ What have we done? We have released Israel from serving us.”

His brothers also came to him, bowed down before him, and said,“ We are your slaves!”But Joseph said to them,“ Don’t be afraid. Am I in the place of God?You planned evil against me; God planned it for good to bring about the present result— the survival of many people.
