於是天主之正義、昌明於斯世。是天主使吾人信耶穌而成義、亦所以自彰其義也。

正惟不以事功為言、而篤信赦罪之主、乃能因其信德而稱義耳。

兄弟須知赦罪之道、端賴耶穌而傳。凡摩西律法之所不能使爾稱義者、苟能信賴耶穌、則無在而不稱義矣。

主之所陟、誰得而黜之？主之所義、誰得而罪之？

古經實已逆睹天主之將使普天萬民因信成義、故預報福音於亞伯漢曰：『天下萬民、咸將蒙休於爾懷中。』然則凡有信德者、必當與富於信德之亞伯漢同受其福矣。若夫徒恃律法者、則實處於咒咀之下。經不云乎：『凡不遵行律法之一切規定者、應服咒詛。』是則無人能因律法而成義、不亦彰彰明甚。蓋「義者惟恃信德而有生命、」而律法則無與於信德、但云：『順此者存』而已。夫基督已代我受詛、而贖我於律法之詛矣。蓋經有云：『懸於木上者、服咒咀』也。此亦所以使亞伯漢之福澤、藉基督耶穌之身、而普被萬民、俾吾人得因信德而領受所許之聖神也。
