God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood— to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished—

God gave Christ as a sacrifice to pay for sins through the spilling of his blood. So God forgives the sins of those who have faith. God did all this to prove that he does what is right. He is a God of mercy. So he did not punish for their sins the people who lived before Jesus lived.

Or do you have contempt for the wealth of his kindness, forbearance, and patience, and yet do not know that God’s kindness leads you to repentance?

By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac. He had received the promises, yet he was ready to offer up his only son.

What then shall we say that Abraham, our ancestor according to the flesh, has discovered regarding this matter?For if Abraham was declared righteous by the works of the law, he has something to boast about– but not before God.For what does the scripture say?“ Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”Now to the one who works, his pay is not credited due to grace but due to obligation.But to the one who does not work, but believes in the one who declares the ungodly righteous, his faith is credited as righteousness.So even David himself speaks regarding the blessedness of the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works:“ Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered;blessed is the one against whom the Lord will never count sin.”

But the things God foretold long ago through all the prophets– that his Christ would suffer– he has fulfilled in this way.

If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar and his word is not in us.

Having suffered, he will reflect on his work, he will be satisfied when he understands what he has done.“ My servant will acquit many, for he carried their sins.

Not only this, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received this reconciliation.

This was also to demonstrate his righteousness in the present time, so that he would be just and the justifier of the one who lives because of Jesus’ faithfulness.

And he did not enter to offer himself again and again, the way the high priest enters the sanctuary year after year with blood that is not his own,for then he would have had to suffer again and again since the foundation of the world. But now he has appeared once for all at the consummation of the ages to put away sin by his sacrifice.

Your justice endures, and your law is reliable.

this man, who was handed over by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, you executed by nailing him to a cross at the hands of Gentiles.

to do as much as your power and your plan had decided beforehand would happen.

The heavens declare his fairness, for God is judge.( Selah)

I have not failed to tell about your justice; I spoke about your reliability and deliverance; I have not neglected to tell the great assembly about your loyal love and faithfulness.

The sky declares his justice, and all the nations see his splendor.
