What advantage, then, is there in being a Jew, or what value is there in circumcision?

Is there any advantage in being a Jew? Is there any value in being circumcised?

Then what advantage has the Jew? Or what is the value of circumcision?

Then what’s the advantage of being a Jew? Is there any value in the ceremony of circumcision?

So what advantage does the Jew have? Or what is the benefit of circumcision?

Do not be misled by varied and strange teachings; for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by foods, through which those who were so occupied were not benefited.

New moon and Sabbath, the proclamation of an assembly— I cannot endure wrongdoing and the festive assembly.I hate your new moon festivals and your appointed feasts, They have become a burden to Me; I am tired of bearing them.So when you spread out your hands in prayer, I will hide My eyes from you; Yes, even though you offer many prayers, I will not be listening. Your hands are covered with blood.

For indeed circumcision is of value if you practice the Law; but if you are a violator of the Law, your circumcision has turned into uncircumcision.So if the uncircumcised man keeps the requirements of the Law, will his uncircumcision not be regarded as circumcision?And he who is physically uncircumcised, if he keeps the Law, will he not judge you who though having the letter of the Law and circumcision are a violator of the Law?For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh.But he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter; and his praise is not from people, but from God.

For there are many words which increase futility. What then is the advantage to a person?

Esau said,“ Look, I am about to die; so of what use then is the birthright to me?”

You have said,‘ It is pointless to serve God; and what benefit is it for us that we have done what He required, and that we have walked in mourning before the Lord of armies?

For what advantage does the wise person have over the fool? What does the poor person have, knowing how to walk before the living?

If from human motives I fought with wild beasts at Ephesus, what good is it to me? If the dead are not raised, let’s eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.
