Circumcision has value if you observe the law, but if you break the law, you have become as though you had not been circumcised.

Circumcision has value if you obey the law. But if you break the law, it is just as if you hadn’t been circumcised.

“ You stiff- necked people! Your hearts and ears are still uncircumcised. You are just like your ancestors: You always resist the Holy Spirit!

The Lord your God will circumcise your hearts and the hearts of your descendants, so that you may love him with all your heart and with all your soul, and live.

Circumcise yourselves to the Lord, circumcise your hearts, you people of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem, or my wrath will flare up and burn like fire because of the evil you have done— burn with no one to quench it.

Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is the new creation.

You who boast in the law, do you dishonor God by breaking the law?

Again I declare to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law.You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace.For through the Spirit we eagerly await by faith the righteousness for which we hope.For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love.

“ The days are coming,” declares the Lord,“ when I will punish all who are circumcised only in the flesh—Egypt, Judah, Edom, Ammon, Moab and all who live in the wilderness in distant places. For all these nations are really uncircumcised, and even the whole house of Israel is uncircumcised in heart.”

Therefore, remember that formerly you who are Gentiles by birth and called“ uncircumcised” by those who call themselves“ the circumcision”( which is done in the body by human hands)—remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world.

A person is not a Jew who is one only outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical.No, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. Such a person’s praise is not from other people, but from God.What advantage, then, is there in being a Jew, or what value is there in circumcision?Much in every way! First of all, the Jews have been entrusted with the very words of God.

And he received circumcision as a sign, a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith while he was still uncircumcised. So then, he is the father of all who believe but have not been circumcised, in order that righteousness might be credited to them.And he is then also the father of the circumcised who not only are circumcised but who also follow in the footsteps of the faith that our father Abraham had before he was circumcised.
