You brag about the law. But when you break it, you rob God of his honor!

你指着律法夸口，自己倒犯律法、玷辱神吗？

你这以律法夸口的，自己倒违犯律法，羞辱上帝！

你这以律法夸口的，自己倒违犯律法，羞辱神！

你以律法自夸，自己却违犯律法羞辱上帝吗？

你既然以律法夸口，自己却因犯律法而羞辱神吗？

你这以律法夸耀的，难道自己还违犯律法侮辱神吗？

你指着律法誇口，自己倒犯律法、玷辱神嗎？

你這以律法誇口的，自己倒違犯律法，羞辱上帝！

你這以律法誇口的，自己倒違犯律法，羞辱神！

你以律法自誇，自己卻違犯律法羞辱上帝嗎？

你既然以律法誇口，自己卻因犯律法而羞辱神嗎？

你這指着律法而誇口的，你因違犯律法而侮辱上帝麼？

你這以律法誇耀的，難道自己還違犯律法侮辱神嗎？

爾以律自誇、而干律以辱上帝乎、

爾誇律法、而自犯法、辱上帝乎、

爾以律法為誇、而自犯律法辱天主乎、

而以法為誇者、豈可明知故犯、以辱天主乎？

You who boast in the law, do you dishonor God by breaking the law?

You who boast in the law dishonor God by breaking the law.

You are so proud of knowing the law, but you dishonor God by breaking it.

You who boast in the law, do you dishonor God by breaking the law?

You who boast in the Law, through your breaking the Law, do you dishonor God?

You who make your boast in the law, do you dishonor God through breaking the law?

thou who gloriest in the law, through thy transgression of the law dishonorest thou God?

You who boast in the law, do you dishonor God by breaking the law?

Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God?

You who boast in the law dishonor God by transgressing the law!

You who glory in the law, do you dishonor God by disobeying the law?

Suppose you call yourself a Jew. You trust in the law. You brag that you know God.

“ Do not think I will bring charges against you in front of the Father. Moses is the one who does that. And he is the one you build your hopes on.

They are the people of Israel. They have been adopted as God’s children. God’s glory belongs to them. So do the covenants. They received the law. They were taught to worship in the temple. They were given the promises.

There is great value in every way! First of all, the Jews have been given the very words of God.

“‘ “How can you people say,‘ We are wise. We have the law of the Lord’? Actually, the teachers of the law have told lies about it. Their pens have not written what is true.Those who think they are wise will be put to shame. They will become terrified. They will be trapped. They have not accepted my message. So what kind of wisdom do they have?

The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed.‘ God, I thank you that I am not like other people,’ he said.‘ I am not like robbers or those who do other evil things. I am not like those who commit adultery. I am not even like this tax collector.

Then they began to attack him with their words.“ You are this fellow’s disciple!” they said.“ We are disciples of Moses!We know that God spoke to Moses. But we don’t even know where this fellow comes from.”

“ Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied.“ There is only one who is good. If you want to enter the kingdom, obey the commandments.”“ Which ones?” the man asked. Jesus said,“‘ Do not murder. Do not commit adultery. Do not steal. Do not be a false witness.Honor your father and mother.’( Exodus 20:12–16; Deuteronomy 5:16–20) And‘ love your neighbor as you love yourself.’ ”( Leviticus 19:18)“ I have obeyed all those commandments,” the young man said.“ What else do I need to do?”

As it is, you brag. You brag about the evil plans your pride produces. This kind of bragging is evil.So suppose someone knows the good deeds they should do. But suppose they don’t do them. By not doing these good deeds, they sin.

“ What is written in the Law?” Jesus replied.“ How do you understand it?”He answered,“‘ Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. Love him with all your strength and with all your mind.’( Deuteronomy 6:5) And,‘ Love your neighbor as you love yourself.’ ”( Leviticus 19:18)“ You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied.“ Do that, and you will live.”But the man wanted to make himself look good. So he asked Jesus,“ And who is my neighbor?”

Don’t just listen to the word. You fool yourselves if you do that. You must do what it says.Suppose someone listens to the word but doesn’t do what it says. Then they are like a person who looks at their face in a mirror.After looking at themselves, they leave. And right away they forget what they look like.But suppose someone takes a good look at the perfect law that gives freedom. And they keep looking at it. Suppose they don’t forget what they’ve heard, but they do what the law says. Then this person will be blessed in what they do.Suppose people think their beliefs and how they live are both right. But they don’t control what they say. Then they are fooling themselves. Their beliefs and way of life are not worth anything at all.Here are the beliefs and way of life that God our Father accepts as pure and without fault. When widows are in trouble, take care of them. Do the same for children who have no parents. And don’t let the world make you impure.
