夫爾誨人、而不自誨乎、爾言勿竊、而自竊乎、

且爾欲正人、而不正己乎、爾言勿竊、而自竊乎、

然則爾訓他人、而不訓己乎、爾言勿竊、而自竊乎、

然則爾欲正人、盍先正己！禁人為盜者、豈可自身為盜？

you, then, who teach others, do you not teach yourself? You who preach against stealing, do you steal?

You claim to teach others, but you don’t even teach yourself! You preach against stealing. But you steal!

Therefore, whatever they tell you, do and comply with it all, but do not do as they do; for they say things and do not do them.And they tie up heavy burdens and lay them on people’s shoulders, but they themselves are unwilling to move them with so much as their finger.And they do all their deeds to be noticed by other people; for they broaden their phylacteries and lengthen the tassels of their garments.And they love the place of honor at banquets, and the seats of honor in the synagogues,and personal greetings in the marketplaces, and being called Rabbi by the people.But as for you, do not be called Rabbi; for only One is your Teacher, and you are all brothers and sisters.And do not call anyone on earth your father; for only One is your Father, He who is in heaven.And do not be called leaders; for only One is your Leader, that is, Christ.But the greatest of you shall be your servant.Whoever exalts himself shall be humbled, and whoever humbles himself shall be exalted.“ But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because you shut the kingdom of heaven in front of people; for you do not enter it yourselves, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in.

Her leaders pronounce judgment for a bribe, Her priests teach for pay, And her prophets divine for money. Yet they lean on the Lord, saying,“ Is the Lord not in our midst? Catastrophe will not come upon us.”

And that slave who knew his master’s will and did not get ready or act in accordance with his will, will receive many blows,

But to the wicked God says,“ What right do you have to tell of My statutes And to take My covenant in your mouth?For you yourself hate discipline, And you throw My words behind you.When you see a thief, you become friends with him, And you associate with adulterers.You let your mouth loose in evil, And your tongue harnesses deceit.You sit and speak against your brother; You slander your own mother’s son.These things you have done and I kept silent; You thought that I was just like you; I will rebuke you and present the case before your eyes.

He* said to him,‘ From your own lips I will judge you, you worthless slave. Did you know that I am a demanding man, taking up what I did not lay down, and reaping what I did not sow?

And He said to them,“ No doubt you will quote this proverb to Me:‘ Physician, heal yourself! All the miracles that we heard were done in Capernaum, do here in your hometown as well.’ ”

For those who are circumcised do not even keep the Law themselves, but they want to have you circumcised so that they may boast in your flesh.

Her leaders within her are like wolves tearing the prey, by shedding blood and destroying lives in order to make dishonest profit.

And the dogs are greedy, they are never satisfied. And they are shepherds who have no understanding; They have all turned to their own way, Each one to his unjust gain, without exception.

Hear this, you who trample the needy, to put an end to the humble of the land,saying,“ When will the new moon be over, So that we may sell grain; And the Sabbath, so that we may open the wheat market, To make the ephah smaller and the shekel bigger, And to cheat with dishonest scales,So as to buy the helpless for money, And the needy for a pair of sandals, And that we may sell the refuse of the wheat?”

Among you they have taken bribes to shed blood; you have taken interest, you have injured your neighbors by oppression, and you have forgotten Me,” declares the Lord God.“ Behold, then, I strike with My hand your profit which you have made and the bloodshed which is among you.

but I strictly discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified.

And He* said to them,“ It is written:‘ My house will be called a house of prayer’; but you are making it a den of robbers.”

But as for you, proclaim the things which are fitting for sound doctrine.Older men are to be temperate, dignified, self controlled, sound in faith, in love, in perseverance.Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good,so that they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children,to be sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored.Likewise urge the young men to be sensible;in all things show yourself to be an example of good deeds, with purity in doctrine, dignified,

But He said,“ Woe to you lawyers as well! For you load people with burdens that are hard to bear, while you yourselves will not even touch the burdens with one of your fingers.
