You think you know so much more than the people you teach. You think you’re helping blind people. You think you are a light for those in the dark.

and if you are sure that you yourself are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness,

You are convinced that you are a guide for the blind and a light for people who are lost in darkness.

and if you are convinced that you are a guide for the blind, a light to those in darkness,

and are confident that you yourself are a guide to people who are blind, a light to those in darkness,

and are confident that you yourself are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness,

and art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them that are in darkness,

and if you are convinced that you are a guide for the blind, a light to those in darkness,

And art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them which are in darkness,

and if you are convinced that you yourself are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness,

and are confident that you yourself are a guide of the blind, a light to those who are in darkness,

Leave them; they are blind guides. If the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.”

We are fools for Christ, but you are so wise in Christ! We are weak, but you are strong! You are honored, we are dishonored!

Some Pharisees who were with him heard him say this and asked,“ What? Are we blind too?”Jesus said,“ If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains.

You say,‘ I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see.

Do you see a person wise in their own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for them.

But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!

To this they replied,“ You were steeped in sin at birth; how dare you lecture us!” And they threw him out.

Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”

to open their eyes and turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’

“ No one ever spoke the way this man does,” the guards replied.“ You mean he has deceived you also?” the Pharisees retorted.“ Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed in him?No! But this mob that knows nothing of the law— there is a curse on them.”

“ Woe to you, blind guides! You say,‘ If anyone swears by the temple, it means nothing; but anyone who swears by the gold of the temple is bound by that oath.’You blind fools! Which is greater: the gold, or the temple that makes the gold sacred?You also say,‘ If anyone swears by the altar, it means nothing; but anyone who swears by the gift on the altar is bound by that oath.’You blind men! Which is greater: the gift, or the altar that makes the gift sacred?Therefore, anyone who swears by the altar swears by it and by everything on it.And anyone who swears by the temple swears by it and by the one who dwells in it.And anyone who swears by heaven swears by God’s throne and by the one who sits on it.“ Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices— mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law— justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.“ Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.

Now about food sacrificed to idols: We know that“ We all possess knowledge.” But knowledge puffs up while love builds up.Those who think they know something do not yet know as they ought to know.

so that you may become blameless and pure,“ children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky

he says:“ It is too small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel I have kept. I will also make you a light for the Gentiles, that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth.”

Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight.

the people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.”

“ You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.

to say to the captives,‘ Come out,’ and to those in darkness,‘ Be free!’“ They will feed beside the roads and find pasture on every barren hill.They will neither hunger nor thirst, nor will the desert heat or the sun beat down on them. He who has compassion on them will guide them and lead them beside springs of water.

Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise by the standards of this age, you should become“ fools” so that you may become wise.

Israel’s watchmen are blind, they all lack knowledge; they are all mute dogs, they cannot bark; they lie around and dream, they love to sleep.

to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace.”
