if you are convinced that you are a guide for the blind, a light for those who are in the dark,

You think you know so much more than the people you teach. You think you’re helping blind people. You think you are a light for those in the dark.

and if you are sure that you yourself are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness,

You are convinced that you are a guide for the blind and a light for people who are lost in darkness.

and are confident that you yourself are a guide to people who are blind, a light to those in darkness,

and are confident that you yourself are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness,

and art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them that are in darkness,

and if you are convinced that you are a guide for the blind, a light to those in darkness,

And art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them which are in darkness,

and if you are convinced that you yourself are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness,

and are confident that you yourself are a guide of the blind, a light to those who are in darkness,

Leave them alone! They are blind guides. And if the blind guide the blind, both will fall into a pit.”

We are fools for Christ, but you are wise in Christ! We are weak, but you are strong! You are distinguished, but we are dishonored!

Some of the Pharisees who were with him heard these things and asked him,“ We aren’t blind too, are we?”“ If you were blind,” Jesus told them,“ you wouldn’t have sin. But now that you say,‘ We see,’ your sin remains.

For you say,‘ I’m rich; I have become wealthy and need nothing,’ and you don’t realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked.I advise you to buy from me gold refined in the fire so that you may be rich, white clothes so that you may be dressed and your shameful nakedness not be exposed, and ointment to spread on your eyes so that you may see.

Do you see a person who is wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.

But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. So if the light within you is darkness, how deep is that darkness!

“ You were born entirely in sin,” they replied,“ and are you trying to teach us?” Then they threw him out.

Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.”

to open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a share among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’

The servants answered,“ No man ever spoke like this!”Then the Pharisees responded to them,“ Are you fooled too?Have any of the rulers or Pharisees believed in him?But this crowd, which doesn’t know the law, is accursed.”

“ Woe to you, blind guides, who say,‘ Whoever takes an oath by the temple, it means nothing. But whoever takes an oath by the gold of the temple is bound by his oath.’Blind fools! For which is greater, the gold or the temple that sanctified the gold?Also,‘ Whoever takes an oath by the altar, it means nothing; but whoever takes an oath by the gift that is on it is bound by his oath.’Blind people! For which is greater, the gift or the altar that sanctifies the gift?Therefore, the one who takes an oath by the altar takes an oath by it and by everything on it.The one who takes an oath by the temple takes an oath by it and by him who dwells in it.And the one who takes an oath by heaven takes an oath by God’s throne and by him who sits on it.“ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You pay a tenth of mint, dill, and cumin, and yet you have neglected the more important matters of the law— justice, mercy, and faithfulness. These things should have been done without neglecting the others.Blind guides! You strain out a gnat, but gulp down a camel!“ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup, so that the outside of it may also become clean.

Now about food sacrificed to idols: We know that“ we all have knowledge.” Knowledge puffs up, but love builds up.If anyone thinks he knows anything, he does not yet know it as he ought to know it.

so that you may be blameless and pure, children of God who are faultless in a crooked and perverted generation, among whom you shine like stars in the world,

he says,“ It is not enough for you to be my servant raising up the tribes of Jacob and restoring the protected ones of Israel. I will also make you a light for the nations, to be my salvation to the ends of the earth.”

Woe to those who consider themselves wise and judge themselves clever.

The people who live in darkness have seen a great light, and for those living in the land of the shadow of death, a light has dawned.

“ You are the light of the world. A city situated on a hill cannot be hidden.

saying to the prisoners,“ Come out,” and to those who are in darkness,“ Show yourselves.” They will feed along the pathways, and their pastures will be on all the barren heights.They will not hunger or thirst, the scorching heat or sun will not strike them; for their compassionate one will guide them, and lead them to springs.

Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you thinks he is wise in this age, let him become a fool so that he can become wise.

Israel’s watchmen are blind, all of them, they know nothing; all of them are mute dogs, they cannot bark; they dream, lie down, and love to sleep.

to shine on those who live in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.
