Now if you call yourself a Jew, and rely on the law, and boast in God,

你自稱是猶太人，倚仗上帝所賜的律法，自誇與上帝有特別的關係；

但是你呢、你既名為猶太人，既依靠着律法，並拿上帝來誇口；

爾名為猶太人、以律自恃、以上帝自詡、

爾稱為猶太人、以律法是依、以識上帝為榮、

爾稱為猶太人、以律法是依、以天主為榮、為榮或作自誇

倘爾擁有猶太人之名、以法為恃、以天主為誇、

Now you, if you call yourself a Jew; if you rely on the law and boast in God;

Suppose you call yourself a Jew. You trust in the law. You brag that you know God.

But if you call yourself a Jew and rely on the law and boast in God

You who call yourselves Jews are relying on God’s law, and you boast about your special relationship with him.

But if you call yourself a Jew and rely upon the Law and boast in God,

Indeed you are called a Jew, and rest on the law, and make your boast in God,

But if thou bearest the name of a Jew, and restest upon the law, and gloriest in God,

Now if you call yourself a Jew, and rest in the law, boast in God,

Behold, thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God,

But if you call yourself a Jew and rely on the law and boast of your relationship to God

Indeed you bear the name of a Jew, rest on the law, glory in God,

Her leaders issue rulings for a bribe, her priests teach for payment, and her prophets practice divination for silver. Yet they lean on the LORD, saying,“ Isn’t the LORD among us? No disaster will overtake us.”

You who boast in the law, do you dishonor God by breaking the law?

“ Listen to this, house of Jacob— those who are called by the name Israel and have descended from Judah, who swear by the name of the LORD and declare the God of Israel, but not in truth or righteousness.For they are named after the holy city, and lean on the God of Israel; his name is the LORD of Armies.

Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father. Your accuser is Moses, on whom you have set your hope.

And don’t presume to say to yourselves,‘ We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that God is able to raise up children for Abraham from these stones.

They are Israelites, and to them belong the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the temple service, and the promises.The ancestors are theirs, and from them, by physical descent, came the Christ, who is God over all, praised forever. Amen.Now it is not as though the word of God has failed, because not all who are descended from Israel are Israel.Neither is it the case that all of Abraham’s children are his descendants. On the contrary, your offspring will be traced through Isaac.

All the descendants of Israel will be justified and boast in the LORD.

Note this: I will make those from the synagogue of Satan, who claim to be Jews and are not, but are lying— I will make them come and bow down at your feet, and they will know that I have loved you.

They ridiculed him:“ You’re that man’s disciple, but we’re Moses’s disciples.We know that God has spoken to Moses. But this man— we don’t know where he’s from.”

Why is that? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as if it were by works. They stumbled over the stumbling stone.

For we are the circumcision, the ones who worship by the Spirit of God, boast in Christ Jesus, and do not put confidence in the flesh—although I have reasons for confidence in the flesh. If anyone else thinks he has grounds for confidence in the flesh, I have more:circumcised the eighth day; of the nation of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew born of Hebrews; regarding the law, a Pharisee;regarding zeal, persecuting the church; regarding the righteousness that is in the law, blameless.But everything that was a gain to me, I have considered to be a loss because of Christ.

Do not trust deceitful words, chanting,“ This is the temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD.”Instead, if you really correct your ways and your actions, if you act justly toward one another,if you no longer oppress the resident alien, the fatherless, and the widow and no longer shed innocent blood in this place or follow other gods, bringing harm on yourselves,I will allow you to live in this place, the land I gave to your ancestors long ago and forever.But look, you keep trusting in deceitful words that cannot help.“‘ Do you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, burn incense to Baal, and follow other gods that you have not known?Then do you come and stand before me in this house that bears my name and say,“ We are rescued, so we can continue doing all these detestable acts”?

I know your affliction and poverty, but you are rich. I know the slander of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.

“ We are descendants of Abraham,” they answered him,“ and we have never been enslaved to anyone. How can you say,‘ You will become free’?”

“ You’ve answered correctly,” he told him.“ Do this and you will live.”

On that day you will not be put to shame because of everything you have done in rebelling against me. For then I will remove from among you your jubilant, arrogant people, and you will never again be haughty on my holy mountain.

I tell you that many will come from east and west to share the banquet with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven.But the sons of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

For a person is not a Jew who is one outwardly, and true circumcision is not something visible in the flesh.On the contrary, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly, and circumcision is of the heart— by the Spirit, not the letter. That person’s praise is not from people but from God.

Didn’t Moses give you the law? Yet none of you keeps the law. Why are you trying to kill me?”

You’re doing what your father does.”“ We weren’t born of sexual immorality,” they said.“ We have one Father— God.”

“ Write to the angel of the church in Sardis: Thus says the one who has the seven spirits of God and the seven stars: I know your works; you have a reputation for being alive, but you are dead.

Are they Hebrews? So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they the descendants of Abraham? So am I.

We are Jews by birth and not“ Gentile sinners,”

So, then, remember that at one time you were Gentiles in the flesh— called“ the uncircumcised” by those called“ the circumcised,” which is done in the flesh by human hands.

For the LORD has chosen Jacob for himself, Israel as his treasured possession.
