Wasn’t Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar?You see that faith was active together with his works, and by works, faith was perfected.So the Scripture was fulfilled that says, Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him for righteousness, and he was called God’s friend.You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone.And in the same way, wasn’t Rahab the prostitute also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out by a different route?

know that no one is justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ. And we have believed in Christ Jesus so that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no human being will be justified.

For circumcision benefits you if you observe the law, but if you are a lawbreaker, your circumcision has become uncircumcision.

Now it is clear that no one is justified before God by the law, because the righteous will live by faith.But the law is not based on faith; instead, the one who does these things will live by them.

For Moses writes about the righteousness that is from the law: The one who does these things will live by them.

since there is one God who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith.

and everyone who believes in Him is justified from everything that you could not be justified through the law of Moses.

It is not in heaven so that you have to ask,‘ Who will go up to heaven, get it for us, and proclaim it to us so that we may follow it?’And it is not across the sea so that you have to ask,‘ Who will cross the sea, get it for us, and proclaim it to us so that we may follow it?’But the message is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, so that you may follow it.

For no one will be justified in His sight by the works of the law, because the knowledge of sin comes through the law.

Then I gave them My statutes and explained My ordinances to them— the person who does them will live by them.

Moses summoned all Israel and said to them,“ Israel, listen to the statutes and ordinances I am proclaiming as you hear them today. Learn and follow them carefully.

Do not bring Your servant into judgment, for no one alive is righteous in Your sight.

You who are trying to be justified by the law are alienated from Christ; you have fallen from grace.

“ Not everyone who says to Me,‘ Lord, Lord!’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of My Father in heaven.On that day many will say to Me,‘ Lord, Lord, didn’t we prophesy in Your name, drive out demons in Your name, and do many miracles in Your name?’Then I will announce to them,‘ I never knew you! Depart from Me, you lawbreakers!’“ Therefore, everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them will be like a sensible man who built his house on the rock.The rain fell, the rivers rose, and the winds blew and pounded that house. Yet it didn’t collapse, because its foundation was on the rock.But everyone who hears these words of Mine and doesn’t act on them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.The rain fell, the rivers rose, the winds blew and pounded that house, and it collapsed. And its collapse was great!”

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

“ Now, Israel, listen to the statutes and ordinances I am teaching you to follow, so that you may live, enter, and take possession of the land Yahweh, the God of your fathers, is giving you.

If Abraham was justified by works, he has something to brag about— but not before God.For what does the Scripture say? Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him for righteousness.Now to the one who works, pay is not considered as a gift, but as something owed.But to the one who does not work, but believes on Him who declares the ungodly to be righteous, his faith is credited for righteousness.

I tell you, this one went down to his house justified rather than the other; because everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Just then an expert in the law stood up to test Him, saying,“ Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”“ What is written in the law?” He asked him.“ How do you read it?”He answered: Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself.“ You’ve answered correctly,” He told him.“ Do this and you will live.”But wanting to justify himself, he asked Jesus,“ And who is my neighbor?”

Listen, Israel, and be careful to follow them, so that you may prosper and multiply greatly, because Yahweh, the God of your fathers, has promised you a land flowing with milk and honey.

But He replied to them,“ My mother and My brothers are those who hear and do the word of God.”

“ Now, son of man, your people are talking about you near the city walls and in the doorways of their houses. One person speaks to another, each saying to his brother,‘ Come and hear what the message is that comes from the Lord!’So My people come to you in crowds, sit in front of you, and hear your words, but they don’t obey them. Although they express love with their mouths, their hearts pursue dishonest profit.Yes, to them you are like a singer of love songs who has a beautiful voice and plays skillfully on an instrument. They hear your words, but they don’t obey them.Yet when it comes— and it will definitely come— then they will know that a prophet has been among them.”
