所以，你們不可丟棄勇敢的心；存這樣的心必得大賞賜。你們必須忍耐，使你們行完了神的旨意，就可以得着所應許的。

就如摩西的律法記着說：「牛在場上踹穀的時候，不可籠住牠的嘴。」難道神所掛念的是牛嗎？不全是為我們說的嗎？分明是為我們說的。因為耕種的當存着指望去耕種；打場的也當存得糧的指望去打場。

第一要緊的，該知道經上所有的預言沒有可隨私意解說的；因為預言從來沒有出於人意的，乃是人被聖靈感動，說出神的話來。

在指望中要喜樂；在患難中要忍耐；禱告要恆切。

所以要約束你們的心，謹慎自守，專心盼望耶穌基督顯現的時候所帶來給你們的恩。

我們得救是在乎盼望；只是所見的盼望不是盼望，誰還盼望他所見的呢？但我們若盼望那所不見的，就必忍耐等候。

因為神並非不公義，竟忘記你們所做的工和你們為他名所顯的愛心，就是先前伺候聖徒，如今還是伺候。我們願你們各人都顯出這樣的殷勤，使你們有滿足的指望，一直到底。並且不懈怠，總要效法那些憑信心和忍耐承受應許的人。當初神應許亞伯拉罕的時候，因為沒有比自己更大可以指着起誓的，就指着自己起誓，說：「論福，我必賜大福給你；論子孫，我必叫你的子孫多起來。」這樣，亞伯拉罕既恆久忍耐，就得了所應許的。人都是指着比自己大的起誓，並且以起誓為實據，了結各樣的爭論。照樣，神願意為那承受應許的人格外顯明他的旨意是不更改的，就起誓為證。藉這兩件不更改的事，神決不能說謊，好叫我們這逃往避難所、持定擺在我們前頭指望的人可以大得勉勵。我們有這指望，如同靈魂的錨，又堅固又牢靠，且通入幔內。

我心渴想你的救恩，仰望你的應許。我因盼望你的應許眼睛失明，說：你何時安慰我？我好像煙薰的皮袋，卻不忘記你的律例。
