我們活是為主而活，死是為主而死。因此，我們無論生死都是屬主的人。

我们若活着，是为主而活；若死了，是为主而死。所以，我们或活或死总是主的人。

If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.

我殷切地期待和盼望：我不會感到任何羞愧，而是放膽無懼，不管是生是死，都要一如既往地使基督在我身上得到尊崇。

主替我們死，使我們無論是醒是睡，都可以與祂同活。

然而，各人要按照先後次序復活。基督最先復活，以後祂再來時，屬祂的人也要復活。

但保羅說：「你們為什麼這樣哭泣，令我心碎呢？我為主耶穌的名甘願受捆綁，甚至死在耶路撒冷。」

你們的信心就是獻給上帝的事奉和祭物，即使在上面澆奠我的生命，我也很喜樂，並且和你們大家一同喜樂。

「大衛在世時遵行上帝的旨意，最後死了，葬在他祖先那裡，肉身也朽壞了。

我們既然相信耶穌死了，又復活了，也要相信上帝必把那些安息的信徒和耶穌一同帶來。我們把主耶穌的話告訴你們：主再來的那天，我們還活著的人不會比已安息的信徒先見到主。因為主必在號令聲、天使長的呼喊聲和上帝的號角聲中親自從天降臨，已經離世的基督徒必先復活。然後，我們還活著的人要和他們一起被提到雲裡，在空中與主相會，永遠和主在一起。所以你們要用這些話彼此鼓勵。

我聽見天上有聲音說：「你將下面的話寫下來，從今以後，那些為主而死的人有福了！」聖靈說：「是的！他們將得享安息，不再勞苦。他們工作的成果必隨著他們。」

他為了基督的工作，將生死置之度外，幾乎喪命，以彌補你們服侍我的不足之處。

不過哪怕是犧牲性命，我也在所不辭，，只盼望我能跑完當跑的路程，完成主耶穌交託給我的使命，為上帝充滿恩典的福音做見證。

這話是暗示彼得將要怎樣死來使上帝得榮耀。之後，耶穌又對他說：「你跟從我吧！」

無論是保羅、亞波羅、彼得、世界、生命、死亡、現在的事或將來的事都屬於你們，你們屬於基督，基督屬於上帝。
