你們對任何人都不要虧欠什麼；唯有在彼此相愛的事上，要常以為虧欠。實際上，愛別人的，就成全了律法。

因為全部律法都在「要愛鄰如己」這一句話裡得以滿足了。

每個人所當得的，你們都要給他：當得稅的，就給他稅；當得捐的，就給他捐；當受敬畏的，就敬畏他；當受尊敬的，就尊敬他。

當你的手有能力做好事時，不要有所保留，不給應得的人；當你那裡有鄰人所求的，不可對他說：「走吧，明天再來，我才給你。」

不過，你們如果照著經上那條至尊的律法「要愛鄰如己」完全實行，你們就做得很好了。

「我給你們一條新的命令：就是要你們彼此相愛，就如我愛你們，為要使你們也彼此相愛。

在這一切之上，還要穿上愛——愛就是成熟境界的聯結。

這樣吩咐的目的是愛。愛是發自潔淨的心、無愧的良心，以及不虛假的信仰。
