因为全部律法都在“要爱邻如己”这一句话里得以满足了。

每个人所当得的，你们都要给他：当得税的，就给他税；当得捐的，就给他捐；当受敬畏的，就敬畏他；当受尊敬的，就尊敬他。

当你的手有能力做好事时，不要有所保留，不给应得的人；当你那里有邻人所求的，不可对他说：“走吧，明天再来，我才给你。”

不过，你们如果照着经上那条至尊的律法“要爱邻如己”完全实行，你们就做得很好了。

“我给你们一条新的命令：就是要你们彼此相爱，就如我爱你们，为要使你们也彼此相爱。

在这一切之上，还要穿上爱——爱就是成熟境界的联结。

这样吩咐的目的是爱。爱是发自洁净的心、无愧的良心，以及不虚假的信仰。
