掌管者的怒氣若向你發作，你不要離開你的本位，因為柔順能和緩大過錯。我見日光之下有一件禍患、似乎是出於執政者不知不覺的錯誤：就是愚昧人得立在許多高位上；富足人倒坐於低位。

明智的臣僕蒙王恩悅；行事可恥的僕人受他震怒。

難道你熱心於香柏木之建築以爭勝，就可以顯王者的派頭麼？你父親不是也喫也喝，也秉公行義麼？那時他真享福啊！他為困苦和貧窮人伸訴；那時他真有福啊！認識我、不就在於此麼？永恆主發神諭說。但你的眼你的心卻不顧別的，只顧你的不義之財，逕流無辜人之血，直行欺壓人壓制人的事。因此永恆主論猶大王約西亞的兒子約雅敬、是這麼說的：『人必不為他舉哀，好像人舉哀說：「哀啊，我哥哥！」「哀啊，我姐姐！」人必不為他舉哀，好像人舉哀說：「哀啊，主上啊！」「哀啊，陛下呀！」

你們為主的緣故要順服人類的一切制度，或是君王為至尊的，或是統治官由君王所差派、以刑罰作惡的、讚許行善的。

你們若是為善而熱心的人，誰能苦害你們呢？即使不然，你們如果為義而受苦、也是有福氣。不要怕他們，不要震盪不安；

因為它是為你的好處而做上帝僕役的。但你若行惡，就該懼怕；因為它並不是徒然佩帶刀劍權力；它是上帝的僕役，是刑罰者，使上帝之義怒臨到作惡之人的。
