if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

Is it encouraging others? Then encourage them. Is it giving to others? Then give freely. Is it being a leader? Then work hard at it. Is it showing mercy? Then do it cheerfully.

If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.

The elders who are good leaders are to be considered worthy of double honor, especially those who work hard at preaching and teaching.

And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, next miracles, then gifts of healing, helping, leading, various kinds of tongues.

Both Judas and Silas, who were also prophets themselves, encouraged the brothers and sisters and strengthened them with a long message.

not neglecting to gather together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day approaching.

After the reading of the Law and the Prophets, the leaders of the synagogue sent word to them, saying,“ Brothers, if you have any word of encouragement for the people, you can speak.”

For our exhortation didn’t come from error or impurity or an intent to deceive.

Give generously to him from your flock, your threshing floor, and your winepress. You are to give him whatever the LORD your God has blessed you with.

In the morning sow your seed, and at evening do not let your hand rest, because you don’t know which will succeed, whether one or the other, or if both of them will be equally good.

You will be enriched in every way for all generosity, which produces thanksgiving to God through us.

And for this reason you pay taxes, since the authorities are God’s servants, continually attending to these tasks.

Because of the proof provided by this ministry, they will glorify God for your obedient confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone.

Until I come, give your attention to public reading, exhortation, and teaching.

Slaves, obey your human masters in everything. Don’t work only while being watched, as people-pleasers, but work wholeheartedly, fearing the Lord.

But a noble person plans noble things; he stands up for noble causes.

So whenever you give to the poor, don’t sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be applauded by people. Truly I tell you, they have their reward.But when you give to the poor, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

Share with the saints in their needs; pursue hospitality.

Rejoice before the LORD your God in the place where he chooses to have his name dwell— you, your son and daughter, your male and female slave, the Levite within your city gates, as well as the resident alien, the fatherless, and the widow among you.

You welcome the one who joyfully does what is right; they remember you in your ways. But we have sinned, and you were angry. How can we be saved if we remain in our sins?

But I fear that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your minds may be seduced from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ.

With great power the apostles were giving testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was on all of them.For there was not a needy person among them because all those who owned lands or houses sold them, brought the proceeds of what was sold,and laid them at the apostles’ feet. This was then distributed to each person as any had need.

If I have refused the wishes of the poor or let the widow’s eyes go blind,if I have eaten my few crumbs alone without letting the fatherless eat any of it—for from my youth, I raised him as his father, and since the day I was born I guided the widow—if I have seen anyone dying for lack of clothing or a needy person without a cloak,if he did not bless me while warming himself with the fleece from my sheep,

Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to give recognition to those who labor among you and lead you in the Lord and admonish you,and to regard them very highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves.And we exhort you, brothers and sisters: warn those who are idle, comfort the discouraged, help the weak, be patient with everyone.

Rejoice during your festival— you, your son and daughter, your male and female slave, as well as the Levite, the resident alien, the fatherless, and the widow within your city gates.You are to hold a seven-day festival for the LORD your God in the place he chooses, because the LORD your God will bless you in all your produce and in all the work of your hands, and you will have abundant joy.

Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has appointed you as overseers, to shepherd the church of God, which he purchased with his own blood.

The wicked person borrows and does not repay, but the righteous one is gracious and giving.

On the other hand, the person who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouragement, and consolation.

He looked up and saw the rich dropping their offerings into the temple treasury.He also saw a poor widow dropping in two tiny coins.“ Truly I tell you,” he said,“ this poor widow has put in more than all of them.For all these people have put in gifts out of their surplus, but she out of her poverty has put in all she had to live on.”

Indeed, this is our boast: The testimony of our conscience is that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially toward you, with godly sincerity and purity, not by human wisdom but by God’s grace.

For if the eagerness is there, the gift is acceptable according to what a person has, not according to what he does not have.

For I have chosen him so that he will command his children and his house after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing what is right and just. This is how the LORD will fulfill to Abraham what he promised him.”

He must manage his own household competently and have his children under control with all dignity.( If anyone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he take care of God’s church?)

Slaves, obey your human masters with fear and trembling, in the sincerity of your heart, as you would Christ.

He distributes freely to the poor; his righteousness endures forever. His horn will be exalted in honor.

A generous person will be blessed, for he shares his food with the poor.

Whatever your hands find to do, do with all your strength, because there is no work, planning, knowledge, or wisdom in Sheol where you are going.

“ And the King will answer them,‘ Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, to bring the poor and homeless into your house, to clothe the naked when you see him, and not to ignore your own flesh and blood?Then your light will appear like the dawn, and your recovery will come quickly. We want you to know, brothers and sisters, about the grace of God that was given to the churches of Macedonia:During a severe trial brought about by affliction, their abundant joy and their extreme poverty overflowed in a wealth of generosity on their part.I can testify that, according to their ability and even beyond their ability, of their own accord,they begged us earnestly for the privilege of sharing in the ministry to the saints,and not just as we had hoped. Instead, they gave themselves first to the Lord and then to us by God’s will.So we urged Titus that just as he had begun, so he should also complete among you this act of grace.Now as you excel in everything— in faith, speech, knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love for us— excel also in this act of grace.I am not saying this as a command. Rather, by means of the diligence of others, I am testing the genuineness of your love.For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ: Though he was rich, for your sake he became poor, so that by his poverty you might become rich.

Then, when he saw what happened, the proconsul believed, because he was astonished at the teaching of the Lord.

Obey your leaders and submit to them, since they keep watch over your souls as those who will give an account, so that they can do this with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.

A fool will no longer be called a noble, nor a scoundrel said to be important.

We cared so much for you that we were pleased to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own lives, because you had become dear to us.

One of them, named Agabus, stood up and predicted by the Spirit that there would be a severe famine throughout the Roman world. This took place during the reign of Claudius.Each of the disciples, according to his ability, determined to send relief to the brothers and sisters who lived in Judea.They did this, sending it to the elders by means of Barnabas and Saul.

Instead, you are to open your hand to him and freely loan him enough for whatever need he has.Be careful that there isn’t this wicked thought in your heart,‘ The seventh year, the year of canceling debts, is near,’ and you are stingy toward your poor brother and give him nothing. He will cry out to the LORD against you, and you will be guilty.Give to him, and don’t have a stingy heart when you give, and because of this the LORD your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you do.For there will never cease to be poor people in the land; that is why I am commanding you,‘ Open your hand willingly to your poor and needy brother in your land.’

Now all the believers were together and held all things in common.They sold their possessions and property and distributed the proceeds to all, as any had need.Every day they devoted themselves to meeting together in the temple, and broke bread from house to house. They ate their food with joyful and sincere hearts,

And when he had passed through those areas and offered them many words of encouragement, he came to Greece

Brothers and sisters, I urge you to receive this message of exhortation, for I have written to you briefly.

Remember your leaders who have spoken God’s word to you. As you carefully observe the outcome of their lives, imitate their faith.

Greet all your leaders and all the saints. Those who are from Italy send you greetings.

I will sing of faithful love and justice; I will sing praise to you, LORD.I will pay attention to the way of integrity. When will you come to me? I will live with a heart of integrity in my house.I will not let anything worthless guide me. I hate the practice of transgression; it will not cling to me.A devious heart will be far from me; I will not be involved with evil.I will destroy anyone who secretly slanders his neighbor; I cannot tolerate anyone with haughty eyes or an arrogant heart.My eyes favor the faithful of the land so that they may sit down with me. The one who follows the way of integrity may serve me.No one who acts deceitfully will live in my palace; the one who tells lies will not be retained here to guide me.Every morning I will destroy all the wicked of the land, wiping out all evildoers from the LORD’s city.

Send your bread on the surface of the water, for after many days you may find it.Give a portion to seven or even to eight, for you don’t know what disaster may happen on earth.

Be hospitable to one another without complaining.Just as each one has received a gift, use it to serve others, as good stewards of the varied grace of God.If anyone speaks, let it be as one who speaks God’s words; if anyone serves, let it be from the strength God provides, so that God may be glorified through Jesus Christ in everything. To him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.

Shepherd God’s flock among you, not overseeing out of compulsion but willingly, as God would have you; not out of greed for money but eagerly;not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.
