For by the grace given to me I say to every one of you not to think more highly of yourself than you ought to think, but to think with sober discernment, as God has distributed to each of you a measure of faith.

For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.

God’s grace has been given to me. So here is what I say to every one of you. Don’t think of yourself more highly than you should. Be reasonable when you think about yourself. Keep in mind the faith God has given to each of you.

Because of the privilege and authority God has given me, I give each of you this warning: Don’t think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us.

Instead of being motivated by selfish ambition or vanity, each of you should, in humility, be moved to treat one another as more important than yourself.Each of you should be concerned not only about your own interests, but about the interests of others as well.You should have the same attitude toward one another that Christ Jesus had,who though he existed in the form of God did not regard equality with God as something to be grasped,but emptied himself by taking on the form of a slave, by looking like other men, and by sharing in human nature.He humbled himself, by becoming obedient to the point of death– even death on a cross!

Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.

Be sober and alert. Your enemy the devil, like a roaring lion, is on the prowl looking for someone to devour.

For the culmination of all things is near. So be self- controlled and sober- minded for the sake of prayer.

So do not be excessively righteous or excessively wise; otherwise you might be disappointed.

Whoever speaks, let it be with God’s words. Whoever serves, do so with the strength that God supplies, so that in everything God will be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.

But he gives greater grace. Therefore it says,“ God opposes the proud, but he gives grace to the humble.”

He has told you, O man, what is good, and what the LORD really wants from you: He wants you to promote justice, to be faithful, and to live obediently before your God.

Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.It is better to be lowly in spirit with the afflicted than to share the spoils with the proud.

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty but associate with the lowly. Do not be conceited.

It trains us to reject godless ways and worldly desires and to live self- controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age,

Older men are to be temperate, dignified, self- controlled, sound in faith, in love, and in endurance.

But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of the gift of Christ.Therefore it says,“ When he ascended on high he captured captives; he gave gifts to men.”Now what is the meaning of“ he ascended,” except that he also descended to the lower regions, namely, the earth?He, the very one who descended, is also the one who ascended above all the heavens, in order to fill all things.It was he who gave some as apostles, some as prophets, some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers,to equip the saints for the work of ministry, that is, to build up the body of Christ,until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God– a mature person, attaining to the measure of Christ’s full stature.

And we have different gifts according to the grace given to us. If the gift is prophecy, that individual must use it in proportion to his faith.If it is service, he must serve; if it is teaching, he must teach;if it is exhortation, he must exhort; if it is contributing, he must do so with sincerity; if it is leadership, he must do so with diligence; if it is showing mercy, he must do so with cheerfulness.

To each person the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the benefit of all.For one person is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, and another the message of knowledge according to the same Spirit,to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit,to another performance of miracles, to another prophecy, and to another discernment of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues.It is one and the same Spirit, distributing as he decides to each person, who produces all these things.

Nevertheless, as the Lord has assigned to each one, as God has called each person, so must he live. I give this sort of direction in all the churches.

Granted! They were broken off because of their unbelief, but you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but fear!

At that time the disciples came to Jesus saying,“ Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”He called a child, had him stand among them,and said,“ I tell you the truth, unless you turn around and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven!Whoever then humbles himself like this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

Through him we have received grace and our apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith among all the Gentiles on behalf of his name.

even because of the extraordinary character of the revelations. Therefore, so that I would not become arrogant, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to trouble me– so that I would not become arrogant.

Therefore, get your minds ready for action by being fully sober, and set your hope completely on the grace that will be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed.

But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me has not been in vain. In fact, I worked harder than all of them– yet not I, but the grace of God with me.

For the one whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for he does not give the Spirit sparingly.

I became a servant of this gospel according to the gift of God’s grace that was given to me by the exercise of his power.To me– less than the least of all the saints– this grace was given, to proclaim to the Gentiles the unfathomable riches of Christ

The Pharisee stood and prayed about himself like this:‘ God, I thank you that I am not like other people: extortionists, unrighteous people, adulterers– or even like this tax collector.

In this way they will train the younger women to love their husbands, to love their children,

From him the whole body grows, fitted and held together through every supporting ligament. As each one does its part, the body grows in love.

For I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers and sisters, so that you may not be conceited: A partial hardening has happened to Israel until the full number of the Gentiles has come in.

For who concedes you any superiority? What do you have that you did not receive? And if you received it, why do you boast as though you did not?Already you are satisfied! Already you are rich! You have become kings without us! I wish you had become kings so that we could reign with you!

It is not good to eat too much honey, nor is it honorable for people to seek their own glory.

Likewise the women are to dress in suitable apparel, with modesty and self- control. Their adornment must not be with braided hair and gold or pearls or expensive clothing,

Encourage younger men likewise to be self- controlled,

and our Lord’s grace was abundant, bringing faith and love in Christ Jesus.

But she will be delivered through childbearing, if she continues in faith and love and holiness with self- control.

By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. (niv)

Surely you have heard about the administration of God’s grace that was given to me for you, (niv)

For God, who was at work in Peter as an apostle to the circumcised, was also at work in me as an apostle to the Gentiles.James, Cephas and John, those esteemed as pillars, gave me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship when they recognized the grace given to me. They agreed that we should go to the Gentiles, and they to the circumcised. (niv)

To this end I strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in me. (niv)

When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, (niv)

In reading this, then, you will be able to understand my insight into the mystery of Christ, (niv)

How were you inferior to the other churches, except that I was never a burden to you? Forgive me this wrong! (niv)

Yet I have written you quite boldly on some points to remind you of them again, because of the grace God gave meto be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles. He gave me the priestly duty of proclaiming the gospel of God, so that the Gentiles might become an offering acceptable to God, sanctified by the Holy Spirit. (niv)
