So two good things will result from this ministry of giving— the needs of the believers in Jerusalem will be met, and they will joyfully express their thanks to God.

And don’t forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God.

For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do.

If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion— how can God’s love be in that person?

Cheerfully share your home with those who need a meal or a place to stay.

Don’t forget to show hospitality to strangers, for some who have done this have entertained angels without realizing it!

So a church leader must be a man whose life is above reproach. He must be faithful to his wife. He must exercise self control, live wisely, and have a good reputation. He must enjoy having guests in his home, and he must be able to teach.

Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone— especially to those in the family of faith.

Your love has given me much joy and comfort, my brother, for your kindness has often refreshed the hearts of God’s people.

I really don’t need to write to you about this ministry of giving for the believers in Jerusalem.

Rather, he must enjoy having guests in his home, and he must love what is good. He must live wisely and be just. He must live a devout and disciplined life.

Now regarding your question about the money being collected for God’s people in Jerusalem. You should follow the same procedure I gave to the churches in Galatia.On the first day of each week, you should each put aside a portion of the money you have earned. Don’t wait until I get there and then try to collect it all at once.

If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.

Her body was washed for burial and laid in an upstairs room.But the believers had heard that Peter was nearby at Lydda, so they sent two men to beg him,“ Please come as soon as possible!”So Peter returned with them; and as soon as he arrived, they took him to the upstairs room. The room was filled with widows who were weeping and showing him the coats and other clothes Dorcas had made for them.But Peter asked them all to leave the room; then he knelt and prayed. Turning to the body he said,“ Get up, Tabitha.” And she opened her eyes! When she saw Peter, she sat up!He gave her his hand and helped her up. Then he called in the widows and all the believers, and he presented her to them alive.

You know that Stephanas and his household were the first of the harvest of believers in Greece, and they are spending their lives in service to God’s people. I urge you, dear brothers and sisters,

She must be well respected by everyone because of the good she has done. Has she brought up her children well? Has she been kind to strangers and served other believers humbly? Has she helped those who are in trouble? Has she always been ready to do good?

You know that these hands of mine have worked to supply my own needs and even the needs of those who were with me.And I have been a constant example of how you can help those in need by working hard. You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus:‘ It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

Then he welcomed them and bowed with his face to the ground.“ My lords,” he said,“ come to my home to wash your feet, and be my guests for the night. You may then get up early in the morning and be on your way again.”“ Oh no,” they replied.“ We’ll just spend the night out here in the city square.”But Lot insisted, so at last they went home with him. Lot prepared a feast for them, complete with fresh bread made without yeast, and they ate.

But before I come, I must go to Jerusalem to take a gift to the believers there.For you see, the believers in Macedonia and Achaia have eagerly taken up an offering for the poor among the believers in Jerusalem.They were glad to do this because they feel they owe a real debt to them. Since the Gentiles received the spiritual blessings of the Good News from the believers in Jerusalem, they feel the least they can do in return is to help them financially.As soon as I have delivered this money and completed this good deed of theirs, I will come to see you on my way to Spain.
