This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things concerning Jesus, although he knew only the baptism of John.

Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will serve kings. He won’t serve obscure men.

As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to those who send him.

Because iniquity will be multiplied, the love of many will grow cold.

But Pharaoh said,“ You are idle! You are idle! Therefore you say,‘ Let’s go and sacrifice to Yahweh.’

Seeing you have purified your souls in your obedience to the truth through the Spirit in sincere brotherly affection, love one another from the heart fervently,

Servants, be obedient to those who according to the flesh are your masters, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as to Christ,not in the way of service only when eyes are on you, as men pleasers, but as servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart,with good will doing service as to the Lord, and not to men,knowing that whatever good thing each one does, he will receive the same good again from the Lord, whether he is bound or free.

The sluggard says,“ There is a lion in the road! A fierce lion roams the streets!”As the door turns on its hinges, so does the sluggard on his bed.The sluggard buries his hand in the dish. He is too lazy to bring it back to his mouth.The sluggard is wiser in his own eyes than seven men who answer with discretion.

Therefore, receiving a Kingdom that can’t be shaken, let’s have grace, through which we serve God acceptably, with reverence and awe,

You yourselves know that these hands served my necessities, and those who were with me.In all things I gave you an example, that so laboring you ought to help the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that he himself said,‘ It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

and that you make it your ambition to lead a quiet life, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, even as we instructed you;that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and may have need of nothing.

serving the Lord with all humility, with many tears, and with trials which happened to me by the plots of the Jews;

Besides, they also learn to be idle, going about from house to house. Not only idle, but also gossips and busybodies, saying things which they ought not.

Servants, obey in all things those who are your masters according to the flesh, not just when they are looking, as men pleasers, but in singleness of heart, fearing God.And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men,knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.

I went by the field of the sluggard, by the vineyard of the man void of understanding:Behold, it was all grown over with thorns. Its surface was covered with nettles, and its stone wall was broken down.Then I saw, and considered well. I saw, and received instruction:a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep,so your poverty will come as a robber and your want as an armed man.

Masters, give to your servants that which is just and equal, knowing that you also have a Master in heaven.

Go to the ant, you sluggard. Consider her ways, and be wise;which having no chief, overseer, or ruler,provides her bread in the summer, and gathers her food in the harvest.How long will you sleep, sluggard? When will you arise out of your sleep?

His watchmen are blind. They are all without knowledge. They are all mute dogs. They can’t bark— dreaming, lying down, loving to slumber.

Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective.

Exhort servants to be in subjection to their own masters and to be well- pleasing in all things, not contradicting,not stealing, but showing all good fidelity, that they may adorn the doctrine of God, our Savior, in all things.

“ But his lord answered him,‘ You wicked and slothful servant. You knew that I reap where I didn’t sow, and gather where I didn’t scatter.

But I have this against you, that you left your first love.

One who is slack in his work is brother to him who is a master of destruction.

Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, salutes you, always striving for you in his prayers, that you may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.For I testify about him that he has great zeal for you, and for those in Laodicea, and for those in Hierapolis.

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work, nor plan, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in Sheol, where you are going.

For he who was called in the Lord being a bondservant is the Lord’s free man. Likewise he who was called being free is Christ’s bondservant.
