For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have shown your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do.Our great desire is that you will keep on loving others as long as life lasts, in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true.

He had been taught the way of the Lord, and he taught others about Jesus with an enthusiastic spirit and with accuracy. However, he knew only about John’s baptism.

“ I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the other!But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth!

Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins.

Lazy people want much but get little, but those who work hard will prosper.

If you are a thief, quit stealing. Instead, use your hands for good hard work, and then give generously to others in need.

And now, dear brothers and sisters, we give you this command in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ: Stay away from all believers who live idle lives and don’t follow the tradition they received from us.For you know that you ought to imitate us. We were not idle when we were with you.We never accepted food from anyone without paying for it. We worked hard day and night so we would not be a burden to any of you.We certainly had the right to ask you to feed us, but we wanted to give you an example to follow.Even while we were with you, we gave you this command:“ Those unwilling to work will not get to eat.”Yet we hear that some of you are living idle lives, refusing to work and meddling in other people’s business.We command such people and urge them in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and work to earn their own living.

Do you see any truly competent workers? They will serve kings rather than working for ordinary people.

Lazy people irritate their employers, like vinegar to the teeth or smoke in the eyes.

Sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold.

But Pharaoh shouted,“ You’re just lazy! Lazy! That’s why you’re saying,‘ Let us go and offer sacrifices to the Lord.’

You were cleansed from your sins when you obeyed the truth, so now you must show sincere love to each other as brothers and sisters. Love each other deeply with all your heart.

Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear. Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ.Try to please them all the time, not just when they are watching you. As slaves of Christ, do the will of God with all your heart.Work with enthusiasm, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.Remember that the Lord will reward each one of us for the good we do, whether we are slaves or free.

The lazy person claims,“ There’s a lion on the road! Yes, I’m sure there’s a lion out there!”As a door swings back and forth on its hinges, so the lazy person turns over in bed.Lazy people take food in their hand but don’t even lift it to their mouth.Lazy people consider themselves smarter than seven wise counselors.

Since we are receiving a Kingdom that is unshakable, let us be thankful and please God by worshiping him with holy fear and awe.

You know that these hands of mine have worked to supply my own needs and even the needs of those who were with me.And I have been a constant example of how you can help those in need by working hard. You should remember the words of the Lord Jesus:‘ It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

Make it your goal to live a quiet life, minding your own business and working with your hands, just as we instructed you before.Then people who are not believers will respect the way you live, and you will not need to depend on others.

I have done the Lord’s work humbly and with many tears. I have endured the trials that came to me from the plots of the Jews.

And if they are on the list, they will learn to be lazy and will spend their time gossiping from house to house, meddling in other people’s business and talking about things they shouldn’t.

Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything you do. Try to please them all the time, not just when they are watching you. Serve them sincerely because of your reverent fear of the Lord.Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.

I walked by the field of a lazy person, the vineyard of one with no common sense.I saw that it was overgrown with nettles. It was covered with weeds, and its walls were broken down.Then, as I looked and thought about it, I learned this lesson:A little extra sleep, a little more slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest—then poverty will pounce on you like a bandit; scarcity will attack you like an armed robber.

Masters, be just and fair to your slaves. Remember that you also have a Master— in heaven.

Take a lesson from the ants, you lazybones. Learn from their ways and become wise!Though they have no prince or governor or ruler to make them work,they labor hard all summer, gathering food for the winter.But you, lazybones, how long will you sleep? When will you wake up?

For the leaders of my people— the Lord’s watchmen, his shepherds— are blind and ignorant. They are like silent watchdogs that give no warning when danger comes. They love to lie around, sleeping and dreaming.

Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.

Slaves must always obey their masters and do their best to please them. They must not talk backor steal, but must show themselves to be entirely trustworthy and good. Then they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive in every way.

“ But the master replied,‘ You wicked and lazy servant! If you knew I harvested crops I didn’t plant and gathered crops I didn’t cultivate,

“ But I have this complaint against you. You don’t love me or each other as you did at first!

A lazy person is as bad as someone who destroys things.

Epaphras, a member of your own fellowship and a servant of Christ Jesus, sends you his greetings. He always prays earnestly for you, asking God to make you strong and perfect, fully confident that you are following the whole will of God.I can assure you that he prays hard for you and also for the believers in Laodicea and Hierapolis.

Whatever you do, do well. For when you go to the grave, there will be no work or planning or knowledge or wisdom.

And remember, if you were a slave when the Lord called you, you are now free in the Lord. And if you were free when the Lord called you, you are now a slave of Christ.
