For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name, in that you have ministered to the saints, and do minister.And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end,

This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things of the Lord, though he knew only the baptism of John.

“ I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot.So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.

And above all things have fervent love for one another, for“ love will cover a multitude of sins.”

The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing; But the soul of the diligent shall be made rich.

Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need.

But we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw from every brother who walks disorderly and not according to the tradition which he received from us.For you yourselves know how you ought to follow us, for we were not disorderly among you;nor did we eat anyone’s bread free of charge, but worked with labor and toil night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you,not because we do not have authority, but to make ourselves an example of how you should follow us.For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat.For we hear that there are some who walk among you in a disorderly manner, not working at all, but are busybodies.Now those who are such we command and exhort through our Lord Jesus Christ that they work in quietness and eat their own bread.

Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings; He will not stand before unknown men.

As vinegar to the teeth and smoke to the eyes, So is the lazy man to those who send him.

And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.

But he said,“ You are idle! Idle! Therefore you say,‘ Let us go and sacrifice to the Lord.’

Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart,

Bondservants, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as to Christ;not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart,with goodwill doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men,knowing that whatever good anyone does, he will receive the same from the Lord, whether he is a slave or free.

The lazy man says,“ There is a lion in the road! A fierce lion is in the streets!”As a door turns on its hinges, So does the lazy man on his bed.The lazy man buries his hand in the bowl; It wearies him to bring it back to his mouth.The lazy man is wiser in his own eyes Than seven men who can answer sensibly.

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear.

Yes, you yourselves know that these hands have provided for my necessities, and for those who were with me.I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said,‘ It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

that you also aspire to lead a quiet life, to mind your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you,that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and that you may lack nothing.

serving the Lord with all humility, with many tears and trials which happened to me by the plotting of the Jews;

And besides they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house, and not only idle but also gossips and busybodies, saying things which they ought not.

Bondservants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh, not with eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but in sincerity of heart, fearing God.And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men,knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.

I went by the field of the lazy man, And by the vineyard of the man devoid of understanding;And there it was, all overgrown with thorns; Its surface was covered with nettles; Its stone wall was broken down.When I saw it, I considered it well; I looked on it and received instruction:A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to rest;So shall your poverty come like a prowler, And your need like an armed man.

Masters, give your bondservants what is just and fair, knowing that you also have a Master in heaven.

Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise,Which, having no captain, Overseer or ruler,Provides her supplies in the summer, And gathers her food in the harvest.How long will you slumber, O sluggard? When will you rise from your sleep?

His watchmen are blind, They are all ignorant; They are all dumb dogs, They cannot bark; Sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber.

Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

Exhort bondservants to be obedient to their own masters, to be well pleasing in all things, not answering back,not pilfering, but showing all good fidelity, that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior in all things.

“ But his Lord answered and said to him,‘ You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed.

Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love.

He who is slothful in his work Is a brother to him who is a great destroyer.

Epaphras, who is one of you, a bondservant of Christ, greets you, always laboring fervently for you in prayers, that you may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.For I bear him witness that he has a great zeal for you, and those who are in Laodicea, and those in Hierapolis.

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.

For he who is called in the Lord while a slave is the Lord’s freedman. Likewise he who is called while free is Christ’s slave.
