But we command you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to keep away from any brother who lives an undisciplined life and not according to the tradition they received from us.For you know yourselves how you must imitate us, because we did not behave without discipline among you,and we did not eat anyone’s food without paying. Instead, in toil and drudgery we worked night and day in order not to burden any of you.It was not because we do not have that right, but to give ourselves as an example for you to imitate.For even when we were with you, we used to give you this command:“ If anyone is not willing to work, neither should he eat.”For we hear that some among you are living an undisciplined life, not doing their own work but meddling in the work of others.Now such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to work quietly and so provide their own food to eat.

Do you see a person skilled in his work? He will take his position before kings; he will not take his position before obscure people.

Like vinegar to the teeth and like smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to those who send him.

and because lawlessness will increase so much, the love of many will grow cold.

But Pharaoh replied,“ You are slackers! Slackers! That is why you are saying,‘ Let us go sacrifice to the LORD.’

You have purified your souls by obeying the truth in order to show sincere mutual love. So love one another earnestly from a pure heart.

Slaves, obey your human masters with fear and trembling, in the sincerity of your heart as to Christ,not like those who do their work only when someone is watching– as people- pleasers– but as slaves of Christ doing the will of God from the heart.Obey with enthusiasm, as though serving the Lord and not people,because you know that each person, whether slave or free, if he does something good, this will be rewarded by the Lord.

The sluggard says,“ There is a lion in the road! A lion in the streets!”Like a door that turns on its hinges, so a sluggard turns on his bed.The sluggard plunges his hand in the dish; he is too lazy to bring it back to his mouth.The sluggard is wiser in his own estimation than seven people who respond with good sense.

So since we are receiving an unshakable kingdom, let us give thanks, and through this let us offer worship pleasing to God in devotion and awe.

You yourselves know that these hands of mine provided for my needs and the needs of those who were with me.By all these things, I have shown you that by working in this way we must help the weak, and remember the words of the Lord Jesus that he himself said,‘ It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

to aspire to lead a quiet life, to attend to your own business, and to work with your hands, as we commanded you.In this way you will live a decent life before outsiders and not be in need.

serving the Lord with all humility and with tears, and with the trials that happened to me because of the plots of the Jews.

And besides that, going around from house to house they learn to be lazy, and they are not only lazy, but also gossips and busybodies, talking about things they should not.

Slaves, obey your earthly masters in every respect, not only when they are watching– like those who are strictly people- pleasers– but with a sincere heart, fearing the Lord.Whatever you are doing, work at it with enthusiasm, as to the Lord and not for people,because you know that you will receive your inheritance from the Lord as the reward. Serve the Lord Christ.

I passed by the field of a sluggard, by the vineyard of one who lacks wisdom.I saw that thorns had grown up all over it, the ground was covered with weeds, and its stone wall was broken down.When I saw this, I gave careful consideration to it; I received instruction from what I saw:“ A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to relax,and your poverty will come like a bandit, and your need like an armed robber.”

Masters, treat your slaves with justice and fairness, because you know that you also have a master in heaven.

Go to the ant, you sluggard; observe its ways and be wise!It has no commander, overseer, or ruler,yet it prepares its food in the summer; it gathers at the harvest what it will eat.How long, you sluggard, will you lie there? When will you rise from your sleep?

All their watchmen are blind, they are unaware. All of them are like mute dogs, unable to bark. They pant, lie down, and love to snooze.

So confess your sins to one another and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great effectiveness.

Slaves are to be subject to their own masters in everything, to do what is wanted and not talk back,not pilfering, but showing all good faith, in order to bring credit to the teaching of God our Savior in everything.

But his master answered,‘ Evil and lazy slave! So you knew that I harvest where I didn’t sow and gather where I didn’t scatter?

But I have this against you: You have departed from your first love!

The one who is slack in his work is a brother to one who destroys.

Epaphras, who is one of you and a slave of Christ, greets you. He is always struggling in prayer on your behalf, so that you may stand mature and fully assured in all the will of God.For I can testify that he has worked hard for you and for those in Laodicea and Hierapolis.

Whatever you find to do with your hands, do it with all your might, because there is neither work nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom in the grave, the place where you will eventually go.

For the one who was called in the Lord as a slave is the Lord’s freedman. In the same way, the one who was called as a free person is Christ’s slave.
